Title: Pixelween 2: The Lesser of Two Evils
Post by: pixelblink on October 04, 2006, 07:12:23 pm
Hey guys!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that PixelJoint is doing another Pixelween contest. Check out the official Pixelween 2006 page:
http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelween2006/rules.asp

Pixelween 2006 Rules
This years theme for Pixelween is Villain vs. Villain.

    * Cannot be an already established battle between villians (ie: no Freddy vs. Jason)
    * no animations
    * 32 colours max
    * You must use the provided template
    * Multiple submissions allowed
    * Due date: Oct 29th
    * No rips, photo traces, edits, etc
    * Can be in any form you wish (ie: game mockup, movie still, iso, etc)
    * You must state in your submission's description which 2 villians you have and what movies they are from

Some ideas...

    * Alien vs Freddy
    * Dracula vs Jason
    * Frankenstein vs Christine (from Stephen King)
    * Zombie vs Hellraiser
    * The Fly vs The Thing
    * Godzilla vs The Mummy

Make it scary. Make it humorous. Just make it.

Submit your stuff to Pixeljoint and purge your sins of all things deliciously evil.

Last thing I wanna make clear: This is for Halloween. Only bad guys will be accpeted. We're talking about horror movies here. This does not include: The Joker from Batman, Van Helsing (who is a good guy), Papa Smurf vs Your Mom, etc.

In the discription of this in the News at PJ it also says "no animations", but it doesn't in these rules. So... can we use animations?

Sorry Mirre... I thought it was added to the official page but it wasn't... so, no animations please.
Sorry about that. It will be added asap

Ah, yes, Samara, that's her name.

So far mine's going terribly. Redo time is coming soon.

Umm... guys, the Joker is not a horror movie villian. Nor is Agent Smith. Rethink your strategies before you put too much time into something.
This is a halloween challenge. Hence the "ween" in "Pixelween." Didn't think I had to connect the dots for you, but I do.

yes it was, and still is acording to me.

im doing something with ash. and dont say ash is the hero because he was only one hero, but many villians.

Godzilla is indeed a relevant choice. Horror Villian/Monster is a-oh-tay by me
Ash is alright too... Evil Ash that is  :y:

Pah! Long live the actual book!
Erm, I looked over the rules, and can it be from a book? Probably not, but yeah...

Hmm, i think i'll have to agree a bit there. Are we able to edit the original template with our entries?

The Blob vs A Hored of Zombies.  !yus!

edit: bah spelling!

A Hored or Zombies? Oh wait, you mean a horde of zombies?

Hawken & Jal: the template was really meant only as a simple frame to indicate that it is a movie still. Nothing more. The real purpose is to not distract from the image itself. I can't see why you can't feel free to edit the template. Go nuts... as long as it doesn't make the template larger than it is.

Been working on mine for a little while.

Alien VS The Mummy.

Very different from what I usually do. Too bad I have to register to PixelJoint to enter. Don't really have a connection to the place. Ah well, fun stuff at least. Going to keep me busy.

I look forward to seeing it. I find that at the very least, PixelJoint is a good way to show off your pixels in a gallery format without the fuss. Think of it as an online resume you can direct friends or potential employers to.

been a while since i read frankenstien, but i seem to remember him as someone who was very unorthodox, lost in his search for the secrets to life.. I don't think he understood the true scope of what he was doing until he did it, he didn't understand the responsibilities one has when creating a living thing. And frankenstien's monster wasn't created evil, it was the people who portrayed him as some dangerous thing based upon his looks, and they outcasted him because they didn't want to understand him.
a good story..
