Long live the spoon avatar.

i love the colors and the rendering. is your first name jaques-louis? :P
i think the closer hand feels too small, mostly because not only is the thumb not visible, but there is nothing to indicate that it is being hidden, either, other than the fact that they eye wants it to be there
not much else to say before its more finished and defined. I asume that you are going to refine the facial geometries? (if not i think you should! - it looks like a cutout atm)

Impressive coloring, be nice if I could do that, nice job so far
-
the horns are insanely well rendered and look fantabulous.

it looks sweet so far - interesting how you work on a piece (liked the progress in green tea very much too).
The horns look great, but the face... I don't know I think that purple is bugging me slightly. I know it's
complementary to the orange and all but still...
May the horns could drop a shadow onto the face or something - although I think that wouldn't match the lightsource right
now.
Anyways - looking forward to see more!

You mean jean-louis? :D
I like the color choice, bbbbbbbut the shading on his head makes it looks strange.. very flat-looking.. assuming the light is coming from behind him on top, the lower part of the beak should be darker..
the mechanism of his beak looks strange too: it looks like he's one of those nutcracking soldier toys.. lower beak should be smaller to make it fit under the joint?

lol, were you making another joke, or trying to correct me? i did mean jacques, not jean, though the critter's hair is quite stylish ^^

Aha. Well then, I say Jean-Francois Baptiste Nicolas David is more appropriate.
& I like the hands better in the second version, but his left hand's fingers look kinda out of proportion/in a strange position.

wait...who the hell is that? where did the francois come from? i was talking about the jacques-louis david french master painter, and i thought you were talking about jean-louis david the hair styling company......

lolz David Stoner is that ur reel name lawl
Yeah, I'm an idiot.
Anyway, the newer hands are so much better. You have so many little things in the linework of them that I know make it look realistic, but that I'd never think to pay enough attention to in order to draw realistic hands myself. Such as seeing a bit of the palm behind the thumb on the right (viewer left) hand. I guess you're just more observant than I.
I think the line seperating the jaw from the rest of the face is too harsh, hopefully you'll remove the black line there and shallow the shadow out a little.
