Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the temp-forum. Yes, *sigh*, it's not Pixelation, but we realized the strenuous situation of being forum-less was a negative influence on the community, so here we are. This is a great opportunity to catch up with all the other members you may or may not have been in contact with since the downtime, and we're looking forward to discussing our new services and continue to provide status reports on where we are in the rebuilding process. For more information, stay tuned. :D

I haven't felt comfortable at a pixel forum for a long time now. Naturally, I can't wait to have a forum with Pixelation's ideals again. GMpixel's standards are a tad low for my taste. Pixcelerate sort of doesn't exist, and I really couldn't be bothered to send in an aplication thing. I kind of liked pixel joint, but it felt like a miniturized DeviantArt. I'm not saying that any of them are "bad." I just couldn't get into it.

Anyway, this should be just fine as a pixelation until Pixelation is back. The only problem is that smilies aren't automaticly off. I'd much rather have a colon P than a :P.

We wanted to go straight to the new forum, but unfortunately we're short on coders and with things as they are, we wanted to start the rebuilding process through any means necessary. Ptoing has only so much bandwidth to share, but we hardly even put a dent into that. Even so, it was time to start directing people here to the server.

Eh? The additional options when posting will only deactivate smilies for a single post, not everyones. I like that better since it allows the poster to use picture or text smilies at their own discretion.

It's great to finally have Pixelation somewhat back up. Ever since Pixelerate disappeared without an explanation I was beginning to fear I would no longer have a place to go to where I can improve my pixel art skills. Thanks a lot, Pep.

I am not going to comment on Pixelation's current situation, because I am entirely unsure of what its situation exactly is yet. (although it's proving my theory even more [whenever I take a break from pixelation, it goes down.] maybe I should just stay forever, that way it will be infinitely stable). But the first thing I noticed about this temp forum is that everybody is a 'Newbie" and I love it. Even Pep Pig. It makes perfect sense, being an art forum and all, and expands on the idea on how one will never be perfect at art and will only get better with time. I think it is awesome and if the permanent (heh, yeah right, permanent)boards are ever complete and up and running, it should have this same feature. That's all. I wish for pixelation to be up now!

I'd hate to waste money to take a kid like this to court. However we could still put pressure on him, as long as it takes as little time out of my day as possible. :P
As for shirts, I'd really like to do that. We've discussed the possibility, and ways to fund it, and we settled on advertising as a solution. I'm absolutely against placing advertisements inside Pixelation itself, but there are some high traffic areas where the advertisements may work as a type of 'fair use' element, but those would go on the... erm.. services that I've yet to reveal, so I'll cover this later! :P The priority is the forum and blog at the moment.

Among several others. I took issue with a lot of stuff going on at Pixelation. I always felt it was a terrific forum, particularly in that it was well-known enough to bring occasional visits from publishers and developers. Because of that it's also the reason I got my first paid pixel gig. But the moderating was downright juvenile at times, and usually overbearing. I guess I always kind of hoped for a forum with the renown of Pixelation, and the atmosphere of Pixeldev.

It wasn't ever an issue of critique of the moderators on Pixelation though. Tsugumo set down that criticism in the proper channels was acceptable at Pixelation. But yeah, she did migrate, and became a moderator at Pixelerate...

Sals: juvenile? I've been on many fora online and I know what juvenile is ("I am banning you because I don't like you.") so I can tell you I never saw pixelation moderation go down to juvenile, but if you felt so, then obviously we need to keep an eye out for mod abuse more than I thought.

I think the mods could get pretty anal at times, but after lurking at the various other alternative forums and checking out how its members acted without pixelation-type rule, I think that this behaviour was the reason why pixelation was such a nice place to be and a great place to get crits from.

Anti Aliasing Page:
Anti-Aliasing (also affectionately referred to as AA) is a blending technique used to simulate greater Resolution in images, or to reduce the "grid" effect caused by the screen pixel-matrix . This is achieved by placing a middle color, or colors, at key points between two contrasting parent color-shapes in order to create the perception of smoothly curved edges. The intermediate color or colors can be either chosen and placed "by eye" or by using mathematical formulae dealing with subpixel accuracy. Applying Anti-Aliasing will increase the blurryness of the image where used. Blurring is a byproduct of Anti-Aliasing, but is usually not a primary goal.
Looks like someone modified it recently. As the index page of the Pixipedia states, there are some caching issues, so force refresh! Sorry, I haven't figured out the problem yet! This normally doesn't occur on other servers.

Hmm, I thought Pixelation was gone for good for awhile there. Never knew there was a temp. board up.
Anyway, I went by Frog32 on the old forums... (I don't know if anyone remembers me-- I kinda doubt it-- but if anyone has that damned dancing cactus of mine from WAAAY back, I'd like to see that again :p) don't really use that name anymore though, obviously. I kinda spontaneously stopped going there for a long time, then when I decided to go back it wasn't there anymore, so...
Anyway... good to be back. It's been a loooong time... I've mostly been working on tiles, managed to figure out the Chrono Trigger-style cliff tiles and actually make a bunch of 'em... might post them at some point once I'm done with this newer tileset. Of course as a byproduct of working mainly on tiles I've gotten a bit rusty with with sprites. But hey, now that this place is back, I can get some critique on the things I'm not so good at, eh? :)

Hey everyone! I never went to pixelation back in the days so I'm not in the know as to how good it was. In fact, it was only until last year that I discovered the beauty of pixel forums when I signed on with Sedge at pixeljoint. With deviantART in shambles (as it's pretty much always been), I find myself excited on the prospect of having more talented pixel artists like you guys looking over my stuff and critiquing with the knowledge to back it up.
Needless to say, I'm more active over and pixeljoint than I will ever be here but, I'll post some pixels in the future as time allows. Summers been busy with me and the ladies.
Good to see some familiar faces here as well!

I recognize a lot of names here... I was semi-regularly posting on the old Pixelation board for about a year before it crashed. Got to know a few of you peeps there and quite a few more over at the other pixel hangouts (pixel dev, pixel joint, pixel academy, pixelerate, DA, etc). There've been some great pixel artists in each of those places, but none has quite captured the whole Pixelation crowd so I'm stoked it's getting a revival.
Kudos to the Pixelation people (especially that Peppermint Pig) for working to get the new Pixelation going.
I hope Pixelation has some sort of super secret security where the President and Secretary of Defense of Pixelation have to turn keys simultaneously to get to the server. :-X

The zombie walk signature animation, the 16 color city destruction and coin flipping animation, the EGA palette tidal wave through a hallway (I think it was an EGA palette, and I think that was you that made it, hard to remember that far back... I just remember Gustav rocked that challenge's ass with his statue and pond entry), and the more recent mutton chops man... You really should pixel more often, Sawtooth.

Ah, nostalgia. I still remember when I submitted my first piece for advanced critique at the old pixelation. Biomors gave me my first C & C. Did anyone save the entries (yeah, mine was the tidal wave one) from that ega challenge? I lost my entry (and about 3/4 of my pixel art from that period) when ranchoweb turned into a pay service and dumped all of my stuff. Also, I really want to see gustav's entry again. It was inspiring, to say the least.

I wish I had kept stuff from around that time. I think the earliest things I have saved in my small archive folder is a zombie Pegwo made (http://members.johnholdun.com/blick/other/zombie32.gif) and a KOF picture of Jibuu (http://members.johnholdun.com/blick/other/ndealkof.png), probably from Ndeal. I don't remember what time the Jibuu picture was made, but the look of it makes me think of earlier Ndeal. I don't have anything from you though, Sawtooth. Besides the zombie walk (now).
I really should save more stuff. I never really thought much of saving stuff back then though.

G_Dragon, an online friend and online co-worker of mine, finally harassed me enough to visit this place. And well, it kicks ass.
I just started pixeling a little over a year ago, so I don't consider myself a professional, but you can decide for yourself. ;)
I plan on posting some of my work in the Pixel Art forum, so be sure to check it out. ;D
