Hey there :)
So I was trying to make a fish for a game. Now, I was told the small version was hard to read and that I should go for a bigger sized sprite and make my way from there.
This is the original: (http://i.imgur.com/Z3PEMMl.png)
And this is the bigger sprite: (http://i.imgur.com/IHxEcDM.png)
At this point, really, anything is welcome :'( ???
Thanks in advance!
Current progress and process:

I think that the original looks better, but, I would make it a little bit bigger, not that much, just so that you can get the details and proportions in there better. Also try giving it a proper outline because it looks like there is an outline everywhere there is orange, but at the white there is no outline.

There is quite a lot of banding going on with the stripes.
But I think the biggest issue is that the shape looks rather uneven and not streamlined.
Partly due to the shading, but also because of the entire silhouette.
Looking at a reference, it seems like the clownfish looks a lot less streamlined than I thought.
But I think the biggest issue in yours is that the back part seems to bulge out.

Also, the light is coming from both underneath and above? The shading is not very clear.

Well, light underneath the water surface is a bit weird because of the refraction, but yeah still it was very off.
Here's another attempt to fix the shape a bit and shadings: (http://i.imgur.com/yqGQCrC.png)

So here's the current version: (http://i.imgur.com/JAr0Fj7.png) and the initial size: (http://i.imgur.com/VJxcgi8.png)
Also went for a middle sized sprite: (http://i.imgur.com/zj9vawH.png)

I like your latest version. Maybe add a slight tint of blue or green to the grays. Also more yellow on the head area...maybe a more vivid yellow? A darker black? Bigger eye?

Thanks for the advice :)

That has a nice pop to it now. I still think the eye could be bigger. It's hard to see at original size. And the darker gray could be lightened a bit to match the value of the orange next to it.

@dpixel yeah I made some changes since:

Also, I'm not sure I can make the eye any bigger without it looking weird...

The eye looks much better :y: Looks great!

In the reference posted by Seiseki, there is a tiny gradient between black and yellow, i wonder if it would be better with this orange/redish color as a merger ?
Did an edit to see if it works :

Thanks for the edit, you might be right that there should be some kind of a gradient but I think you made the black too thick.
I'll try gradienting it a bit though thanks :D

You're right ! good luck, i'm following this piece :)

Thanks @metachaos :D
So I tried gradient the stripes a bit, what do you think?

Another attempt, tried making heavier transition: (http://i.imgur.com/Amz2kBW.png)
