Title: [C+C][WIP] Low res tank drone animation
Post by: Leo on November 22, 2015, 11:45:52 pm
Hello everyone,

I have working on my first pixel art animation. To be honest I have no real idea of what I was doing, and just tried to get a cool effect. Im a huge fan of 2d animation so I guess a couple of details give it a good look, like the light blink before the laser, or the shadows in the tank during the laser animation.

Im kind of happy with the result, but there is something off that I can't really put my finger on, and even if i try to change or add stuff to it, I can't really see the animation improve anymore.

Hope you guys can give me some feedback.

Thank you.

Hi Leo,

DISCLAIMER: I'm no pixel master myself, but I hope my feedback is still valid :p

Firstly, thats a good job, I think that would look really cool in a game, a like the way the laser is done, and the shading effect when it fires really adds to the sense of "power".

BUT (yep.), it seems like there are two ways of "seeing" this sprite. Either as a tank, with the turret a little further back than the center, facing right, OR a as a a sort of robot spider puppy facing forwards (I know that sounds crazy, but without reading your description that's actually how I saw it at first :p ) Maybe you won't see it that way but I hope my confusing statement will make sense to you

Okay so after re-reading my reply, I realised that a picture speaks a thousand words, so here is a two thousand word explanation:

I altered your pictures to illustrate the image that popped in my head:

After reading your description: (http://i.imgur.com/qQOMxtX.gif)

Hope that's better :)
