Title: Pixel Art Hobbyist: Fantasy Motorcycle Girl
Post by: Boss on October 06, 2015, 12:22:27 am
This is my first request for critique, and one of the largest pixel projects I have attempted so far. I tried to stick with no more than 25 colors, but it might be give or take a few.  Any advice on technique would be appreciated.

I don't have much critique, but it looks great.  Nice character design!

The only thing I can see is that the smoke from the exhaust looks off.  I see implied speed lines on the tires, if the motorcycle is in motion, the exhaust wouldn't be going straight up.  If it's setting still there wouldn't be implied speed lines.  It's a minor gripe, and probably not that relevant overall.  It would probably be hard to imply exhaust any way other than vertical being that close to the edge of the piece.

Thank you very much for the input.  I do plan on animating it soon, hopefully, and I can always make the art space bigger for the smoke following instead of rising straight (Thank you by the way, I didn't think about that yet and it would make the animation awkward). I haven't decided if I want to make it moving or just idle.  I might delete the motion lines entirely in that case, I added them only because I thought they looked cool.  I did struggle with the line work on the tires though, is there a better way to get that shape without making thick, jaggy lines?  When I clean them up they lose shape and when I add more they look lopsided as well.
