Title: Dithering in photoshop?
Post by: megamax124 on August 14, 2015, 09:41:16 pm
Hey guys,
So I have this picture: (http://i.imgur.com/RiJ13uu.png)
How can i make a nice dithered transition between the two colors in photoshop?
Is there an automatic way because it would be really tedious to do by hand :p

I don't use PS myself, but boy are you in luck. Indigo came up with this awesome technique (http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=16531.msg149962#msg149962) a while back.

draw a small dither pattern and then just copy it.. Or use the pattern fill with the paint bucket.

I use following trick: make a gradient fill, then go to Image -> Mode -> Indexed color and experiment with palete type and number of colors. Patterns might look bad and you'll probably need to tweak colors manually afterwards. I'll advice to only use this for backgrounds (like sky) or close value colors, because it doesn't look that good when zoomed.
