Hey guys I'm new here and I've seen the talent around and you guys got some awesome stuff. So I'll set up camp amongst you rockstars and hopefully some of that talent will rub off on me.

With that said I'm going through a bug phase where I've been designing characters based off of insects.
Here is Yellow Jacket. He's a wasp.

This was a hard decision. I'm leaning towards 3.

like the giant sprite, just for the desing tough im not a fan of that size sprites.

Weird question, can I post that animated Zayo sprite in another thread for further study? There's some banding going on and I have been looking for a good animated example to study in terms of clusters and this seems perfect. It has some very beautiful clusters and a few very nasty banding issues going on. It features some clusters that move beautifully through time and some that jump around a bit.

If you search for "cluster" in the general forum, you'll see what I mean, there's a bunch of theory behind it.

Don't worry man, the reason I want to study it is because it's a very nice sprite :). It just has the right amount of minor issues to study in depth.

Wow that character sheet is sweet, really cool. I started doing one myself and started making lots of poses, your work motivated me to keep doing that (I didn't post it yet tho)
About your bug, I am not a fan of big sprites but I like the colours from the second one with the changes on the third, but with one wing on each side.

Thanks, I'm glad it provided some motivation that's awesome. I would also love to make the bug sprite smaller but I keep thinking the design would lost detail.

Where do you want to go with the bug sprite? Any examples on what style you're going for? Gives me a bit of a Megaman X vibe, maybe?

Yea someone mentioned that it reminds them of the beetle from megaman x3. It's actually for a forum fighting game made out of members from the site. So yea there were color restrictions and detail restrictions but I think he came out decent in the style.

Good excuse to do some of those fighting pants hey?  :P

Note the darkest colour adds red which helps the sprite pop against a wider range of backgrounds.

Everything looks so good and very inspiring.  The one thing i see is that halberd's idle animation seems a bit too much like he is thrusting his hips at the air in a weird way. :crazy:

Thanks man. Yea I can't seem to get him to look more like he's swinging with only 4 frames.

This is more of a gameplay/readability issue: I feel the 'defend' stances would look better if he flashed (to the penultimate frame) every time he was hit. Right now, since there's no visible reaction, it's hard to tell a defended hit from a miss.

Oh well his defend is more like a Street fighter defend where the frame is just held there. But yea if it wasn't like a Street fighter game then yea that would be cool.

Oh well they just use to kick button ha-ha sorry about that. Like Street fighter the punch and kick buttons but his legs are too small to kick with so he punches even with the kick button.

Slow and hard to connect but very punishing.)

QCB Kick - A knight's shield is his best friend, especially one that hit's back. " This works like Vipershark's counter except it only counter's projectiles and sends the projectiles back at the opponent, also the window is much longer than Vipershark's counter so it waits a little for the projectile to make contact"Also this would be cool if it's possible.

The dithering is seriously not working for me on the portrait. There must be a better way to paint it than like that. It doesn't blend well and makes it look fuzzy in places.

I was trying to go for a Jojo's Bizarre adventure crosshatching look. That's why I used alot of dithering maybe I over did it a little but the dithering was the way to capture that style.

So there is a character that has a super that turns anyone into a female anime/manga/ or video game character. The super is called Midnigt  Moe.

It was a little difficult coming up with a Midnight Moe for Halberd.
 I finally came up with the idea of Fat Princess because of his round shape and size. Then I realized wow its ironic that him being a knight becomes a princess for mid night Moe so I'm glad it fell right into place.
