Title: Girl and her house.
Post by: TheRealAkito on July 17, 2015, 08:35:32 pm
I'm working on a Rpg and wanted to try a house, my inspiration is Brownie Brown, the Mother Series, and Legend of Zelda.
How does the house look, I couldn't figure out what to do on the house's walls, so I did a lazy brick thingy as a placeholder.
I'm also trying to get better at putting colours together. I didn't think the girl would blend in as well but surprisingly it did! Anyways tell me what you think.

Because its so stylistic its hard to say anything because it looks good.  The only thing that i would say to drive it that extra mile if this isnt supposed to be neutral for a game or anything.  To  do this you could make the lighting seem more exciting by either making it top down lighting like from the sun or to make it darker out and use the lamps beside the door to make something more fun.  With the lamps youd get a cool effect of rim light and also light from the right.  Other than thos things it looks great  :y:

Cute style, but the colors are quite similar so it blends together too much.
Try making some parts much brighter and use more contrasting colors.

Also the character is shown from a front-facing perspective, you need to show more of the top of the head and less of the body.

You might also want to tone down the outlines a bit, every single thing seem to have outlines.
Removing the outlines in certain places and using shading to convey the shapes would make it look at lot cleaner.

Thank you so much Seisuki! I felt the colors were to blended but was too scared to experiment and yes I tend to use a lot of outlines in my pixel art. This has helped me so much. I also redesigned the girl a bit. I tried to make it more Top-Down but I also wanted to keep the style I was going for.

I feel like this is snowballing away from the simplistic earthbound style, but Wolfe's edit is so shiny <3  ;D
The new sprite is a huge leap forward!

Yeah agree, it's moving away too much, but I still couldn't resist to apply some more changes.

Quaint, cosy.

Now this is a true learning and studying goldmine here.
