Title: Any tips for pixel art beginners?

Hello everyone! I recently took interest in pixel art but the problem I have is that I have no idea on how to start things , how to develop my techniques etc. I am also thinking of making a indie game but without any knowledge in pixel art I just can't do much . Any type of advise would be of great help :)

P.S As for the game I have done some things but got stuck on things like grass or character design. I am using a character from RPG Maker VX Ace . The problem I have is that I don't know how to make the sword swinging animation :( Here is the character and his sprites (Idle-Walking)

Do the movement yourself thousand of times untill you undestand it completelly.

Works for me.
