Title: Having some trouble with a 16x17 player animation.
Post by: LividPixel on January 13, 2015, 10:06:15 pm
Hello!

I'm fairly new to making pixel art, and haven't really done any animation before this. I've looked into low-res walk cycles quite a bit, but none of the methods I've found have worked well, given the spacing of my character's legs.

The first thing I tried:

looked somewhat usable but strange. I tried alternating the direction of the legs on the fourth frame, like how actual walking works, but it still looks strange to me.

Any help would be appreciated, I really want to improve this.

Hello,

I've just recently decided to start making pixel art, I haven't done many animations, but I did find one that looked alright.
You may not like the method,

^ To me it kind of looks like she is sliding, rather than walking. However, I feel like maybe, if you arched the legs into a bigger C shape (like have the foot lift off the ground), then I'm sure it could look good.

Your arms and legs need to be reversed. Nobody walks with left arm/left leg, then right arm/right leg. You cross them.
