I think the slash itself looks pretty good, but is missing context. The motion isn't set up, and isn't payed off. That's why it looks off. Try setting him up to pull the sword back, and put his body into it, and then let the energy dissipate when he is done. Here is an animation done by Pixel Piledriver that achieves this, while also being quite quick. I reccommend looking at this animation frame by frame to see how he sets up the motion, and how he brings the action back down after the swing is complete.

I really don't recommend you use that animation of mine as reference.
It's very underdeveloped.

Don't worry so much about it being correct.
It needs to be functional, appealing, and different from his other attacks.
Overlay some attack sketches for each direction/type you want to cover.
Then put the focus on the purpose they are intended to serve and make them unique from each other.

Here's the other work I've done on this character so far:

Arching Forward

Arching Above

Straight Down

Straight Forward

Use comparison and process to determine if the animation you have fits the attack you want.
It can be helpful to take the idle frame and draw a bunch of arrows before creating animations.

Sorry  But I do think there is plenty to take from it, even at this stage.

This isn't done! But I think it's much better.
I hate the back leg and his head needs more movement.
Critique it up  :D

Edit:

Most recent edit.. needs hair/head movement and I need to clean it up a bit. Overall I think the motion is pretty fluid though.

Edit:
Fixed the head and some timing stuff to give it more anticipation.
Gonna start working on the reset.
What do you guys think??
