Digging how each has a distinct palette, but they all fit together pretty nicely. Is the gobbo an enemy or a thief class?

just an enemy  :P

going to try working on one at a time so critique is simpler, changed hat to try to pull it away from just a final fantasy ripoff

This would really benefit from a few highlights IMO. Like so:

I liked it without highlights, since cloth isnt really shiny or anything. Your edit just makes it look like it is wearing some sort of plastic armour.
