Title: New Artist - Building a Wall
Post by: Kashlavor on May 05, 2014, 06:27:49 am
Hello everyone!  I'm quite new to pixel art (and art in general) and was looking for some advice.  I've started working on making new assets for a custom Hammerwatch (http://www.hammerwatch.com/) campaign.  Below is what I have so far, a few walls.

I'm planning on fleshing out all the necessary walls, tiles, and little doodads to build up a dungeon.  Any advice on how to improve my technique? (Preferably while still keeping consistent with the Hammerwatch style).

Thanks everyone.

Hammerwatch seems to have way more contrast, especially on walls. Could you provide us with a few screenshots of Hammerwatch, showing off art assets that you like and represent the style?

Ah, I see, there's extra shadow and light layers that will add more contrast. In that case I think you are on the right track, but it's still a bit early to critique. I think I want to see a small mockup with your tiles to be able to critique them properly :)
