Title: Pixel Artist Needed for Life of Pixel
Post by: richicon on January 06, 2014, 05:51:12 pm
Super Icon is a small independent game development & digital publishing studio, and we are looking for pixel artist(s) to rework some of our existing characters, and to create new characters and animations.

The game is called Life of Pixel, and it has already been released on PlayStation Mobile, where it received many very good reviews. We are now taking Pixel over to various other mobile platforms via Unity.

Here is a page with more info on the game, along with reviews:

http://www.lifeofpixel.co.uk/pixel2/

Rates are negotiable, and production is already under-way with a planned February completion date.

A warning:
These people have used some of my CC-by-SA licensed art without apparently meeting the share-alike requirement and so would appear to be in breach of license.
On my initial contact with them they admitted they were in breach and would remedy the matter but have since ignored any further request for information about the status of their remedy.
You can see parts of my CC-by-SA licensed work Monsterboy in Wonderworld (http://opengameart.org/content/monsterboy-in-wonder-world-mockup-assets) stuff on the linked page.
So they cleary haven't remedied by removing my works.

I'd be on my guard with any dealings you may choose to have with them.

Surt - as we agreed with you, we are removing all of those tiles from all future versions of Pixel as it was a misunderstanding on the terms of the license you had assigned to the works. We believed they were an attribute license, which as you recall I emailed you with the credits screen, which I have included below for reference. The screen-shots on that page are the old ones from the PSM release, I haven't started any of the new art & reworking yet.

Please stop being so confrontational about this, we are removing all the content as promised. It was a simple mistake from using an image from OpenGameArt.org. I think you are being rather unreasonable to keep hassling us like this when we have agreed to resolve.

Human error - it happens you know!

Back on track now, one aspect of the job is to improve the main Pixel sprite; to give him some more movement and personality.

This is the player sprite sheet as it stands now. As you can see, he needs a little love.

A delightful tidbit about the person you could be working with:
Quote from: BrightRetro
On a final note, I think you have acted like a total obnoxious arsehole over
all this, and you really should avoid posting images on a sharing site such
as OpenGameArt if you are such a thoroughly unpleasant pedantic person.
This in regards to reasonable request to cease breach of license and copyright infringement on a profit making enterprise when being given art for free.
