Hey everyone, I hope you're enjoying this new year. I'm working on an android game which will allow modders to easily add new content. Here is a background I'm working on:

That's your bg? Looks like just about anything will get lost on top of it. Readability nightmare.

Make a mockup, with your chars actually superimposed on top of your bg, and see if it works.

I agree that the char colour and background can make the scene hard to read.

I'm not sure what you're after, or why you're posting. Just general feedback/crit?? When posting, specify what you're working on. Get specific feedback. People typically won't take the time to appraise

No, the mockup is for you, not me. Rather flat; no depth. Needs a lot of help.
I find the bg incredibly odd and random. Abstract even. I don't recognize anything in it as objects I've seen before. I see a horizon line. That's about it. Trees? Are those leafless plants of some type? That middle object - what is it? The symmetrical layout adds to the symbolic nature of the bg. Adds to its weirdness.

These graphics are so bland and plain that your animations better be incredible. Only that could balance out this mundane style. Actual gameplay is another matter.



This is critique based on comparisons to other fighting games I know of/play. If you're a beginner just starting out, way to go. Keep going.

Ok thanks for the reply. I'm just posting to generate some interest for the project I guess.

I'd be happy to receive feedback about the game play, any characters, backgrounds. I'm also open for new ideas or tips on how to make the overall game or its features better.

No offense, but this is definitely not the place to do that. Forgive me if I'm mistaken mods, but if you are posting here, the purpose is entirely to receive feedback of the artwork in itself and improve as an artist.

There's a lot of strange things happening perspective-wise in the new background. Those stairs should not be changing in width due to perspective since they mostly should be on the same plane (? not sure how to phrase that but it doesn't look correct to me.)

The crack in the bridge looks rather sloppy and as if you simply erased a bit and didn't bother to define any forms. Rather than color-filling everything to define objects, use some of the other colors you have going on to build and sculpt forms and shapes.

The HUD needs to stand out more from the background- I'd suggest a white outline.

I didn't change frame order but I did set a global delay and duplicate some frames.
I rather like limited animation, but there's still a lot you could do to improve these, even without making new frames, or perhaps little drawing.
