Title: Brand new from Dogmeat
Post by: Dogmeat on August 26, 2005, 11:37:43 pm
Well, i have a new girlfriend, and with that, the inspiration to pixel her! ha! Anyway, I spent about a hour on this, I know there are issues, but i figured I'd throw it to the dogs for some crit, even if you don't see anything wrong with it, try and find something to crit anyway. When I used to work professionally, doing this stuff, my boss told me something that I'll never forget: "An artist is never done, there is always something to improve, you could work on a piece forever and tweaking gets you close to perfection". Or something like it. Anyway, here is the pic:

Well I'd say it looks like her, though I don't have any frame of reference.

On to the Crits:
Your AA makes her face look blurry, on the left side, and blurry and still not smooth on the right.
I think she needs more contrast, and her hair looks over dithered when compared to the rest of her.

So to recap:
*More contrast
*Less blurry AA (less AA colours, with more contrast between shades.)
*More shades in the Dither pattern, or forgo it.
*Also might want to AA her shoulder and hair.

Heh, recap was longer than the piece it was recapping... :-[

Ought to do a larger one, and/or show a reference. Lucky Dog :)

The first one is more realistic. The second one has a harsh shadowy line on the cheek., though it's okay at 1x. I think there's some breaking effects going on around the forehead that are more apparent in the new version.

More GF tribute art! Do something big and spectacular!

I think the aa on the hair should go. Looks more like a cape than hair. Some highlights on the hair will definatelly help. I also agree on the blurryness. Fix those and you  have a nice pic.
