Just joined, I've started doing pixel art for perler bead art, but I figured I could share the designs (done on the computer) here. My first creation Bleu from Breath of Fire. Let me know what you think! (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/GabrielEggers/bleu.gif)

Read the OP, guys.
But anyway, this section is for critique of original art, so this is probably more of a General Discussion thread if you're just showing something like this off.

Does that mean that you stick to the shape 1:1, but need to adjust for the limitted palette of a bread pearls color set ?

I was well aware of what he wrote. However, it's more of an edit than a creation of your own if you just adjust the palette, in my opinion. And since it's not an edit on the original sprite I find it weird that you didn't mention it. And yes, if it's for pearl bead I would suggest you post it on the General thread or in the lowspec thread.

Adjustment of palette and some other conversions of shape in terms of outline and such. I promise my next post will be all original... didn't realize I was going to be flamed.

I think you'll quickly find that artists, like most people, hate to have their art stolen or ripped without permission, and are consequentially (and reasonably) provoked when they discover unoriginal art to be claimed original (besides complete rips, this includes minor recolors and/or edits to existing work without giving due credit.) Just be sure to cite the sources for your edits in the future if you're going to post them online (given that you have explicit/implicit permission from the author to publish your edits,) and you won't see such reactions ;)

He did straight out say who it was and from what game, although it was implied he made the sprite.

I wasn't out to flame you or cause this big of a reaction, I just wondered since I'd seen this sprite before claimed by another artist. You did say what game it was from but the one you picked for your pearl bead is not the original sprite but a remake from another artist.
Yet again, sorry, it wasn't my intention to cause a flood.

Well, there has been some trouble with people disregarding copyright in a subtle way, so I wouldn't be so surprised. It's not really flaming if there is a legitimate concern and reason to call you out on something.
Though if everyone had given proper critique on it, I wonder whether it would have amounted to anything as your goal from the beginning wasn't really to improve the sprite?
