Heya, i need help,
i can do a lil pixel art, mainly alterations from some online games i play,
ive seen some pixel art done on paint were its just the outline, and no matter how hard i try, i can never do a correct outline,
if any one has some tips, or can help me in any way,
Just post here,
p.s: if you want my msn address to chat about this topic,
just ask
-
show us what you can do and we'll critique it.
-
Ok. can you give me an idea of what to do please.
-
Do you have any examples of your work we can look at?
If we can see what you are doing, we can better tell what it is you need to do to improve.
If you don't have anything to show, pixel something you want to pixel, the best you can, and then show it and maybe we can help you.
-
Ok wel some one of another forum done this, the smaller version,
and i loved it so i asked em if i can use it for my new radio site opening soon.
They said yes, but ive resized it ive just finished the outline for it
by the way its a creme egg,
its been unwrapped :P

Are you making this with an etchesketch?
-
yeah, right now it seems you are useing only vertical and horizontal lines..
try doing some other angles and curves..
Try pixeling a circle.. an egg is similar shape to a circle..
-
yes that is this thing though, thats what im stuck on, this was easy because, it needs t look like etchassketer or howerver you spell it :P cos the pixels are big.
-
So whats the problem?
You outlined a resized image which made the pixels bigger in the process and so you ended up tracing the edges of the pixels. If you look at your pixels in the outline, they are regular size. Its the way you did th eoutline which suggests a blocky image. You need to smooth out the corners so it looks more curved.. to do that you need to create a series of pixels in the correct directions, changeing the direction accordingly.
Just try it. then show us your EFFORT. and we'll be able to see what you did wrong or right and then be capable of helping.
You didn't try pixeling a circle like I said..
Part of the learning process is acquired through the experience of pixeling.

Haha, I have absolutely no idea what's this about. Not being able to draw anything but in what looks like vertical and horisontal LOGO commands is a problem I'd expect a robot to have.

shut up

My, my, no need to get testy.
Well, I start of my lines like sketches, just like on paper, then I clean 'em up and viola...which brings me to my next point: you do work in traditional art, right? If not, I suggest you touch up on yout non-digital art before moving to the computer, because traditional art simplifies alot of the techniques used in pixel art and makes it easier to learn.

COMEBACK: IMPOSSIBLE

Come back: go away.
ok im going to do some drawing on paper and vwala then to computer.
also whats all this about traditional art

What are you asking, br3ttie? Are you asking us for help on making that big blocky outline into a big UN-blocky outline? Or are you asking us for help on making better outlines that are still blocky like that? Or are you wondering why pixel pictures get blocky when you resize them?
Restate your goals and we can answer your questions better =)

And I'm not really sure what your problem is either. It looks like you had a lineart, resized it, hollowed it with white, and posted it. I really can't comprehend how or why this is something you can't get around. Just draw with pixels instead of these lines representing outer edges of pixels, I guess...

Come back: go away.
Please try to be nice to other users. Also please try to make sense.

Helm, I think that he was under the impression that
"COMEBACK: IMPOSSIBLE"
meant,
"I am declaring the following as a comeback: it is impossible for me to shut up."
I interpreted it as an oblique reference to a famous movie I have never seen.
Which one of us is right? Does anybody care? I am finished now?
-
No Crumbbread, it meant that the previous line was so witty and logically unquestionable, that no comeback could ever be devised.
Another reply which i think would be appropriate at the time was: "NO U"
Oh, and it's "voilá".
-
I was under the same impression as CrumbBread.
When words/sentances become vague in meaning, they can be missunderstood and interpreted differently from person to person.
I'm not surprised that Br3ttieBoi told Helm to shutup when Helm laughed at him, which is where the conflict started.
If Br3ttieBoi wants to, he can post some pixel art in the pixelart section and recieve critique there, because this thread will be locked now since it is way off-topic.
