I've been messing around with this for a few weeks now. I don't know where I started, but now I have this. Looking for whatever...anatomy, design, perspective, color, ideas, etc.
I was thinking she might be holding her hand out feeding the deer. Another deer, squirrel? I like the dark on the left and brighter area on the right and the low in the sky level light level from the front/right...at least that's what I find interesting. Kind of late in the day kind of feel.
Thanks for any feedback.

I like the deer in this, it looks like it has the most depth so far with its shading. The woman could use some of the same treatment, because right now, she seems pretty 2d. Her pose seems kind of akward with her arm bent back to the branch, and her front leg seems a bit off/wonky. You're on the right track though with the deer! If you keep rounding out the forms of things, the scene might breathe more life :) Just a thought, but if it's a late day/early evening scneario, you might want to try a more yellow/orange based palette for the lights, and deep purples/navy for the shadows....

I guess I just need some singing animals with costumes, sprites and pixie dust.

Good point. I was thinking about something like that. I haven't gotten around to cleaning up the deer yet. Do you think the woman's arm is long enough?
