Hi All,
I've been working on a game for a very long time now. I'm not 100% happy with the 4 frame walk cycle that I'm using but im having difficulty trying to sort it / make it better. :(
If anyone can help that would be great, I think it's a case of looking at it for far too long and not seeing the wood for the trees! The sprites have to fit within a 16 X 16 grid. Here's a static and animated version of the walk cycle frames. Thanks loads,

Hey electrolyte,
cute little buddy uve got there ;)
I like him but i dont get it with the face and the hair. Its kinda... weird ^^
Anyway, on the movecycle i would add 2 "bounces" and rearrange the guys legs and arms a bit.
4 frames and changed the speed to 0.2 instead of 0.25 but this is beside the point.
Quick edit, hope it helps ;)

Keep it on,

Lorath, good edit but you might want him to flail his arms a little less if it's a WALKING animation, that looks like he's running : p
-
Yep, I couldnt recognize if this is ment to be a walking or running animation.
But your right, my edit is running like hell :P
-
Ooo love the edit! Yeah it's fine if he's running as he's got to cover alot of ground in the game!
Thank you so much! ;D
EDIT: Just popped in a version of that cycle and I think he look pretty sweet! I'll finish off the cycles and then post a link to a dev game so you can see

Wow, these sprites looked very rudimentary, but I just spent 1 hour in the game and never felt the graphics were a problem.
