I'm certainly no expert but from the position of the hand the gun looks too flat should probably have a little more angle to it. The shading and hair seem a little flat as well...I like the piece though fer sure.
Keep it up!

Her stance seems very similar to that of the sprite in this (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=12906.msg124919#msg124919) thread, especially from the waist down... So the tips given there, (for example, lack of gesture, as said by EyeCraft) could also apply to this piece somehow. :)
Your skill in basic shading has improved however, as far as I can tell.

Woah it really is like that other sprite!
As others have pointed out:
- Fix the gun
- Fix the hair: looks like you've tried to paint it strand by strand, which is not feasible at all in pixel art, you should rather try to block some areas of hair
- Her left leg is a little too big on the end
but pretty good sprite overall : D

First example that came in my mind, the Iconoclasts -> http://img.brothersoft.com/screenshots/softimage/t/the_iconoclasts-450429-1302157406.jpeg
see how the girl has her hair kinda "blocked out"?
