Post by: metachaos on August 02, 2011, 09:55:17 pm
Hi Everybody,

I'am redoing an old sprite with the techniques i learned from this forum and redoing the animations :

first of all new and old sprite :

I would like some C&C if possible so as to have a good looking 4 frames (can't add more) walk cycle :

Thanks  :)

i messed up with the time when the char has to be close to the floor and when he lift up. i think it's better like this.

The feet do not pivot in your animation, they stay paralel to the ground, I think that's what gives your animation a robotic feel.

His hair could be bouncing not as one block but like real hair does.

Thank you for the help.

I modified as you said, is it ok like this ? (hairs moving with independant parts + feet turning outside) :

Added some features :

Belt moving so as to read the twisting of the lower part and started the back animation :

His legs don't look like they're moving very much. It almost looks like he's running in place, probably because you can barely see where his feet hit the ground and start moving back. Try having his feet move a few more pixels back when the other step forward.

I was thinking about this but the fact is that the char isn't seen from a human viewpoint, actually it is more like 45? from the ground so if i put the feet too far behind you don't have the sensation of the character walking on the ground but digging in it.   :-\
