Title: e3
Post by: .TakaM on May 10, 2006, 03:20:08 am
i know most members come to these forums for more pixel based discussion, but still e3 is interesting stuff.

well, what really got me excited was yoshis island 2 for NDS. i played the first one on the snes to death and its great to see a proper sequel being made.
the new super paper mario for GCN looks amazing too. I loved the look of the past two paper mario games and its great to see them change it up a bit, looks like awesome fun

and ofcourse, the wii overall, Ive almost completely ran out of bandwith here so I had to choose my downloads carefully, downloaded that one video previewing wii games, and its pretty interesting, red steel looks really cool holding the sword up to someones neck :)

what really surprised me was how much you use the wii remote in twilight princess, I really thought it would just be for fishing or something. looks awesome.

so yeah, how is this e3 treating you all?

I'm ub3r giddy. 'Been having fits of spazziness all day in anticipation. I personally like the look of that hotel game for the DS, as well as the Starfox game. I agree with you on that YI2 note.

It's quite possible Kid Icarus is in production. Retro still has a title for the Wii they need to show. And the E3 isn't over yet. Hideo Kojima also has a Wii project he hasn't shown anything about yet too.

nah a 3d kid icarus title dosent do anything for me, it has to be a 2d sidescroller of some sort.

i dont think kid icarus is big enough as an IP for nintendo to do a full blown 3d game.... then again it might lent isself as a perfect wii title ( flying around using the wiimote) still... i think its much more likely, that we'll see it on one of the handhelds....but yea im not really holding my breath :/

Must. Have. Wii. Now!

This years E3 has been nothing short of fantastic. Just found out about Smash Bros Brawl and I  think my brain is still jumping in glee somewhere around here. (Pit, wario and Snake!) Not to mention Mario Galaxies, Twilight Princess, Exite Truck, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel. The DS had a bunch of surprises as well. A new Starfox! (Looks like they finally got onto using the controllsystem from Starfox 2.) Never saw the sequel to Yoshi's island comming.

Ugh... I could just keep talking. I'll wait with a thorough analysis of the event once I stop foaming at the mouth.

Yea definitely a start! Though I was kind of hoping for a nice 2D Kid Icarus DS, like the one you did. Maybe send it to Nintendo and get that ball rolling ;D

Nintendo wins this E3 [omg.. Wii]. Microsoft finishes second [awesome graphics and new franchises]. Sony really disappoints with its PS3 announcements, but the games aren't bad.

Has anyone here seen the new bomberman? WTF, I was LMAO all over the floor. It at least gets a gold star for trying.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/bombermanactzero/index.html

BTW, I don't think Spore is coming out until '07

I also really liked the Metroid Prime demo for the Revolution. I loved watching the nintendo rep guy talking about how you need to pull backwards on the nunchuk part of the controller to get the grapple beam to pull off shields and doors and stuff. That could give you so many cool possibilities for sword fighting and beat-em ups. After watching the Revolution demos I can't even think about the PS3 or Xbox360 anymore. They seem so backwards now. So obsolete.

... they announced Bomberman: Act Zero, like... last year... you're a bit late for that, really... And I love it. Everyone seems to hate what they've done to the beloved Bomberman WHO'S BEEN CONSISTENTLY IDENTICAL IN THE PAST 50-SOMETHING GAMES. Change is good, damnit. I just think such a dramatical thing from totally sissy to wannabe-Spawnesque dark cyborg future stuff is... really really cool, in a slightly humorous way.

Yeah, MP3: Corruption is looking insanely good, as well. Along with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In fact, all these great games have made me ditch my plans of getting a new airsoft rifle this summer, and a DS, and a new mobile phone... I'm just gonna save up for a Wii and buy pretty much every game released at launch.

I went the first two days. Wii is a major letdown. It controls horribly and the graphics are awful across the board. If it controlled well it might be great in spite of technical limitations, but it's more difficult than just using an analog stick.

Dead Rising kicked ass. And Final Fantasy 13, whoa. Best graphics I've ever seen. The in-game looks better than most games' cinemas. Go download the IGN movie now.

By the way, Boktai 4 pixelled on DS. Looks fun, as Boktais always are.

even though i havent played it myself, i think this will take a while to adapt, i hated analogues at first now theyre second nature, of all the videos Ive watched people playing at booths some seem to get the controller straight away and some struggle.

and graphics, i dunno really, red steel, smash bros, excite truck all look amazing, but then tony hawk and some other games look pretty bare.

Im still completely psyched for the wii but Im sure its a completely different experience when youre actually at e3

Yeah, I'd expect analog sticks to be easier. Thing is, I'm sure it took me well over an hour of constant playing to get used to dual analog in Halo. And pretty much everyone else I know has reacted in the same way. If it's different, it's going to take time to get used to. Nintendo's philosophy is that it should appeal just as much to non-gamers, and I think it'd be easier to learn how to use the Wii controller than any dual-analog controller if it's your first time playing.

Sony was a joke, My car isn't even worth the price they're asking for a toy.  I can't believe they used "innovation" and "gyroscopic" controller in the same sentence without being laughed out of the room... Not only does it feel like a gimmick to cash in on the Revolution idea, but hell, even Microsoft was making gyroscopic controllers almost a decade ago.

More Boooring Final Fantasy Games.  Seriously when will people stop lapping up that garbage.  SPOILER ALERT: You play as a young riffraff who meets up with a princess in disguise and you must go on a quest to find 8 Crystals/Gems/Locations and defeat ultimate evil in the galaxy(tm) and also find true love.  All they ever show is cutscenes... and it's too easy to make a cutscene look better than the game will even come close to.

"wii" ...Jury seems to still be out on it... I have my reservations about basing an entire controller off of the power glove.  If it works, it should be a thrill, but I'll wait till I can play one to say for sure.

Also, more crappy team based multiplayer games set in World War 2... wow... new genres please!

The 360 looks like it may finally be developing a library of real games of which I could buy 4 and a system for the price of a Playstation 3.  But I won't since I don't buy gaming consoles.

New Castlevania for DS, hopefully it will be fun WITH a good story and not crap like the Sorrow games (zomg I am a 17 kid who is dracula blah... dumb)

and \m/ For New Super Mario Brothers for DS.

when did the castlevania games have good stories?

agree on final fantasy, but it's a hugely successful franchise so don't hold your breath on that one

agree on teambased wwii games. enough already

saw metal gear 4 full trailer. Seems like a promising feature-length film. I liked the last two ones too.

I might buy a wii.
