These things will end up as part of a platformer mock-up. They are very WIP. I plan on replacing all the grey with fabulous colours.
Progress will happen soon (like tomorrow). Comments most appreciated in the meantime.

Green 'n' purple.
(edit: replaced image, saved it wrong before. There is not supposed to be any transparency here)

Maybe this isn't a problem, but the top surface of the rocks doesn't appear to be level. it looks like it curves upward toward the back. It would be very difficult to stand, run, and fight on such an incline. Otherwise, it looks great! :)
Are you planning on having these against a darker background?

Ah, you're right about the shape of the ground. Trying to fix it by adding a middle layer of flatter surface:

Not sure what background I'll have yet. Thanks for the reply!

To me it looks like the perspective is a little too far upwards to be a platformer game. There should be more of a view from the side, in my opinion.

I like the upward perspective. It's less like Mario and more like this (http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/41083.htm).
Edit: in this one I do agree with FRAWG

In that perspective, the ground area is too large.

Yeah I agree as well. Given my humanoid player sprite will be 2.5 blocks tall. Will just try to even out the top land tiles.

I think the reason it looks like it's facing us is because the little round rocks on the walking surface are about as wide as they are tall. At an angle like that they'd probably be wider than they were tall, by quite a bit.

When I saw this, I was immediately reminded of Big Brother's Savage World mockup. I would advise pouring over this topic, as it tackles a similar perspective, that was thoroughly hammered out and critiqued as it went.

Some of the images are broken, but there's enough there to see the process.
It would also help to see a character, even if placeholder, for scale comparisons.
