Title: morals of photographs
Post by: circuscommando on February 16, 2011, 02:55:45 am
is it against pixeling practice to take a photograph of something with the specific intention of tracing and pixeling over as an ends to a means?  I know that it's mostly frowned upon to trace, what are your thoughts?

Everyone needs to drop the notion that there's some moral artist code unique to pixel art. There are no hard rules regarding these things.

To pass off a trace as 100% original, in any medium/genre, is frowned upon. It's not unique to pixel art. It's all the same. Reduces and traces have their place. I think they just typically have less artistic merit to them than something 100% original.
