The animation is really choppy, like a slideshow. his far arm should disappear behind his  torso at some frame, and it'd probably be helpful if the legs overlapped (which might require adjusting the sprite). It may even be that the sprite should be worked on a bit more before the run animation is jumped into.

also, there are many running-sprite threads in the forums, I'd study some of those if you haven't already.

If it helps any I used www.makeagif.com so I did not know which speed to choose.

I have looked at some of the other walking topics, but when i just look at it, it doesn't make sense to me. I tried and failed.
I am not sure on what needs fixed on the sprite.

Do you want to really do it right? You would probably need to redraw most of the sprite, as if he is going to walk left an right in that angle, he will walk almost sidewise, or something worst. I know how you are feeling, I have exactly the same problem (just that nobody seems to help me   :-[ ...  >:( )

Maybe i will have to redo the sprite... Ill try it and then post it up here.

New sprite maybe? it is a little more sideways. I do not know how else to fix it? Also a little sprite there.

Still willing to change it up, but i think i want to go more cartoony rather than more realistic.

I don't think you need to restart your sprite at all. Derk Yu's (http://www.derekyu.com/images/games/imok-ss01.png) game along with a few others have a similar perspective and they look great. Plus your original sprite has more character than your newest. Just search for the many tutorials on here about walking animation and you'll do fine.

     :huh: mmmm.... sorry, I wasn't saying that you have to remake and turn 180º on the design of your character... I was just talking about  the angle that would make you change more things than you first thougt  :hehe:...
    I agree with ChadHackey

Alright but what can i do to fix this? I just can not get him in the right angle.

Fixed it up a bit. Shaped his head better, fixed some shading in his arm, eyes, and maybe with a nose?

HI!

I think you really should heed the edvice you already got, in particular StarRavens. Following his link i did his in some 10 minutes.

It really isnt anything good, but still a start in 10 minutes just by following that link and reading whats written there. I think in a few hours of extra work, this could work out pretty good.

YAY FOR PROGRESS!

I like how he leans on the leg he is tanding on, excellent touch!
One thing I liked in your original approach is that he moved his arms a lot more. I think you should try to incorporate that into the cycle, it could work out well. The current arm animation is kinda placeholder-like.
Keep up the good work!

Get that head moving too, so many people manage a good walk cycle except for a static head. After you plant your weight your head bobs down (next frame), and as you walk your head tends to move left and right slightly, try and put some of that in and see how you get on. I was afraid you just wanted other people to do your animation for you though, thank you for shooting that idea down, good work so far. Maybe add a few more frames to smooth it up, but get the main movement down first of course.

Alright so more arm movement and head turning. I WILL BE BACK! ;D

How is this? The hair still needs fixed.... sub-pixeling is hard.  :yell:

The hair animation doesn't make sense, it jerks up and down multiple times in the cycle, if thats wind, the movment needs sub pixelled and to be less severe, if it just random, make the hair dip the frame after he plants a foot and come back up after. Subpixel for smoothness. I whipped up this simple sub pixelling example, zoom in on it to see how it works.

Not sub pixelled;

Same speed, extra frames for sub pixelling;

It's over the top and a  little rough but it should be enough to give you an idea.

I actually posted the wrong image before, hope no one noticed.  :y:

@Gromit :lol:

I think the arm movement needs to be far more subtle for this. At the moment he looks like he's skipping and you've got clashing with 2 frames in there also where his arm swings to the rear.

Keep in mind that your character isn't stationary in some of the frames and I think this is what's causing you some headaches with clashing frames.

I find the arm movement funny, it is as if the arm close to us would unnaturally stretch when swinging forward.
Also the behind arm seems to swing twice, which gives ti a twitchy appearance.

The hair does not follow the head movement well. Gromit`s edit shows nicely how it should look like.

Keep on hacking away on it!
