I think you need to clean your black outlines more, and use them less. Otherwise this is quite sold. Some of your hue mixes don't quite work, and the fore leg needs the shin readjusted a bit.

thanks, i was trying to go for a western comic feel with the lines, but if style gets in the way of appeal, then style must die.  That and you are right, i should clean them :P

ill fix the shin when i know whats up with it ^^

one question i have, since all of the color mixes were intentionally placed (and the bad ones were removed), which in particular do you not think work?  i consider you god of all things hue shift, so if you say its wrong, then i need to change it, the problem is that i dont know whats wrong about it (which is why i put the colors there in the first place)

ignorance is sobering >.<

ill post an edit once i get a couple more suggestions here and on the joint

thanks for taking the time to offer advice

I'm not god of anything. The hue mixing on the staff end of the spear is what irks me most, I'd say. The upside of the shin needs to be straightened, I think. There's some stray pixels, I guess. One black one on the underside of the arm... I should really edit this but I don't want to hurt it by helmifying, it's pretty cool as it is.

edit: oh well. I didn't touch your palette much. What you really needed I think was another shade before black.

For the hue thing to work, you have to have more places where you use a single colour, to define shapes and volumes. Not every colour shoud be in every spot. You can't really avoid the staff thing that I didn't like before, but that's not a big deal.

i could tell you that stray black pixel was a mole, but id be full of shit.  was confuses me is how i worked for an hour and a half and didnt even notice it O.o

sometimes you just need a pair of fresh eyes

the staf......i need to look at how other people have done very imperfect angles like this, because im just at a loss as to how to do it right.  it ticked me off when i was working on it, and now it really just doesnt look good.  when i edit i may or may not be able to solve that problem, so im open to suggestions

ok, ill keep that edit in mind (and yeah adding another shade was what i planned to do, though i was thinking a deeper green insstead of a deeper red)
there are a few changes that i disagree with regarding certain portions but ill keep this in the back of my mind when i do my own edit later

I really like this but the belt area is really bothering me, you've got a very long pixel line which goes from one side through the circle part to the other side.

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it hit me as being odd and possibly Helm too as his edit removes it.

no, its completely intentional, it has a bunch of shark teeth along her left hip and rear.  if i ever animate it they way i plan to, youll see them

perhaps i should curve it though, since your not the first to notice   ::)

I noticed that line as well, but figured out what it was pretty quickly. In Helm's edit it isn't removed, it's just hidden in shadow and less...black. Also, in Helms edit, the "line" was given an effect of pressing against her skin, causing an impression. Though I do think Helm's edit the full pixel removed looked kind of odd...
I do think it would look better if it were under that golden buckle thingy of hers, though. I'm wondering what's causing that single sleeve on her jacket (the sleeve she's not wearing.) to just pop out like that while the rest of the sleeve jacket is just limp...?

BTW, I really like that stray curly hair on her head. This piece rocks.

i took a shot at your lineart, havent done anything with much actual hue shift like this in a while. i had to put yours beside mine because somethings looked a bit cluttered. dont know if it deserves its own topic, i lmyself like it, but hey what does a 14 year old know?

Hey, looks pretty cool, reminds me of Krenkel a bit in the color shoices.  Also, dont put yourself down because of your age; age is seldom a factor (except where it involves life experiences).  in fact, there are a lot of kids that are really good artists.  Im 16, so im somewhere in between the kids and the pros :S

example of krenkel's work: (http://rebelsofmars.blogs.com/rebels_of_mars/images/krenkel_mastermind_of_mars.jpg)

maybe this all belongs under the collective lineart thread?

Beautiful! One of the best pieces I've ever seen. Good luck with the new stuff.
