Title: Characters don't fit into environment!
Post by: Steve III on May 19, 2010, 05:22:40 am
Hi, I'm making a game and attempting the graphics by myself.
Its in 3/4 view; I'm happy with my environments (only screens of one shown) so I'm not really looking for critique of them (its fine if you want though) but I'm having trouble getting my characters to fit into this environment. Could you give some advice on colouring and contrast and how to pixel characters in 3/4 view? All help appreciated.

Edit: If you are one of the ~8 people who saw this post before I re-uploaded because the images were JPG.... sorry!

u definitely have to work on ur palette.... maybe add black outlines to the sprites.... also shadows help to make them stand out more

That's a generous edit, onek. You even interpreted a frontal view for the blobby guy. Cool to see you in pixelation.

I like the contrast onek added. I think you have a functional mockup if you take what onek's got there and perhaps lessen the environment's contrast a bit so the chars stand out more.

The shadows were a great idea. Chars are "grounded" now.
