Title: A little help
Post by: Wharp on March 29, 2010, 02:12:37 am
Alright, Ive looked at a few WIP's, and i noticed their rough sketches or line art. I've been having some trouble with line art and I want to know how to make a rough sketch of what I want to make. Usually it just comes out all messed up cause of the line art.

and on the other hand, I'm having trouble adding highlights to this:

You're probably placing too much emphasis on lineart - a common mistake for new people. Instead, block in your shapes, creating forms/volumes, not lines. Just try it.

The skull: Why so big? Does it need to be that big? Why not a different art style (besides pixel art) to render it?

You should add a definite light source, unless it is directly on top. That may be the trouble with highlights. It also seems kind of flat. Maybe you should add some more to it like scratches, cracks, etc. depending on how old it is. Right now it looks perfectly shined.
