This is my first real pixel art. I've made 1 or 2 tiles for fun, but I haven't really done anything else. I wanted to try something a bit challenging, and try to improve my self. I've been playing a ton of Heroes of Newerth lately so I figured I'd do one of the heroes.

Refrence image found here (http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/media/ca/web/082.jpg). Just scaled it down and did a rough outline over it, and cleaned that up.
Overall I'm really really happy with it. The only thing that bothered me was the dagger and maybe the hourglass not standing out enough.

Don't use a solid black outline, it just doesn't fit. Try to make the outline varied colors like the ref image you linked to.
I see banding on some of the edges, remove that.
Also, banding is when you got one color and a different color forming "bands" like this:
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Not to sure what you are referring to, could you highlight an area of the image that shows this (banding)? Thanks!

Those are the spots I can see banding on.

useful explanation of the term "banding" found here: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=8110.0 (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=8110.0)

Thanks. That helps, but might need some more time to fully understand it. I'll see what I can do to apply these suggestions.

I haven't done a lot, but some work on the upper end of his robe. Just want to make sure I'm taking the edits in the right direction.
