shading-wise, not pixelart. But welcome
-
thanks.. but what is wrong with the shading?
-
he's saying the shading was done with photoshop or something along those lines that gave them a blurry edge.
the lineart itself is pretty cool
-
It's pixel art alright. He looks cool. Add a shine to the glass, illuminate.
-
This IS pixel art.

Nice lines though man, but do the shading pixel by pixel, no brushes.

Andy = wrong
so yeah, that out of the way, please read up on pixel techniques etc, this type of thing is not pixel art and does not belong.

maybe he just has godly aa skills.

Haha, no offense, but that would not be good aa, even if handmade.
Anyway, Fifth, stick around and look at some other stuff. Your lineart does qualify as pixelart, but i would suggest looking into anatomy a bit. Before doing cartoony stuff (breaking rules of anatomy to a certain extend) you have to at least have a fairly ok grasp of anatomy.

No one check, but it has 254 unique colors, unless he is very patient, I'm sure he didn't aa it himself.
-
well i did the whole thing in photoshop with a 1pixel pencil, and the fill bucket...
did the shading the same but i aa'ed it with a 1 pixel pencil blur ....
so i assume that thats a no-no right , using "blur"....
ok thanks learned somethin new.....

ya, using the pencil tool is exactly what you want to do, but not the brush, blur, opacity or any other effects. pixel art in its truest form is each pixel placed with care by hand (although the fill tool is accepted). the way i taught my brother that seemed to help him out is "if you dont have strict control over the pixels and the colors (ie anti-aliasing/blur), its not pixel art."
keep it up, that line art looks great
-
Do the same thing agian just with no blur - then it will be pixel-art, obviously not a masterpiece but everyone starts somewhere.
reading through these forums and there are loads of pixelart tutorials all over the web will really help you ;D

hows this?
-
Yup, that's it!
That qualifies as "Pixel Art."
Congratulations and welcome aboard ;)

Things to remember in photoshop:
Check to be sure your magic wand and paint bucket filler tools are not using anti-alias selective ability, and set the threshold for their fill/selecting to 0. This should save you some grief with doing fills and selects.
These are great linearts and you're getting the idea with shading on your second work. Like it was mentioned, just surf around the site for inspiration if you need any, and keep on going, since you have great promise! Welcome to Pixelation!!

thanks! ;D
