This just looks like abunch of thoughtless tracing.
-
your pretty much decreasing the quality of the picture,
do something else with it, how bout instead of copying the picture, do a different pose, or something else, so it actually looks like you put some thought into it, instead of just tracing and coloring it
p.s. make it smaller, pixel art this big usually leaves less for actual pixel art, right now your just filling in lines

Yep, I would resize him down. Then, clean everything up. To key is to get small shading areas. The blue shadows for it is consistent. I'd keep it there.
-
come on, that's not fair with this guy.
he's just not retracing the guy, he reshaded the whole tiger thing, he might not have done something very pixel focused but that is no reason to say that he's just retracing everything and reducing picture quality. You guys are just being harsh for no true reason
personally, I think he made an alright job of giving the pic some depth by shadowing the limbs towards the back.
-
the outline, at least, was traced. the shading looks like it was too, but i can't really tell.
either way, i have to tell you that tracing is not the way to go. referencing maybe, but tracing?
-
yes i traced the lineart, but i changed the whole lightsource and redid the shading
btw i have abandoned this im to lazy to aa all the stripes :P

Please, ignore the trolls. This piece has self worth in itself. It's true that you'll gain more by not tracing or by "tracing by eye", trying to reproduce the image without tracing but just by observation, but that's not the where the value of a piece ends.
Come back to it in a few weeks, when you're not so sick of it anymore. Works tend to have much more value if they're finished.

Please, ignore the trolls.
trolls?ouch!:(
make it at least a myth creature that thinks!:'(
-
A troll is supposed to be a person that has critiques on everything, not a mythical being?

oh, so that's what a troll is.*whacks head.
thanks for pointing that out.

That is a very inaccurate definition of a troll.
A troll is a person who misbehaves to cause trouble or get attention. (I'm sure there is a better definition than that, though)
-
No, I think Gil was disagreeing with Turbo's disagreement regarding the other critiques, in a kind of sarcastic question rather than a definition.
Sarcasm is hard to convey on the internet.
-
Especially when you consider sarcasm can only be detected in the specific vocal intonations in a statement, unlike most types of ironic statements, which can be discerned as such, from the textual context only if so required.
A good idea is to leave sarcasm for when you're not on the internet, then, so that at least people may punch you in retaliation.

Actually, no, that's totally wrong, my definition was correct. Trolling is the art of seeing something wrong in every thread. Like, "please use caps and omg I saw a spelling error in the third sentence, now your thread doesn't count". Trolls are actually mostly highly respected forum members. Look it up if you don't believe me...

what i want to know is, am i being a troll?-_-
people don't seem to like me too much...

rabidbaboy: Not you, dude, you added positive, useful criticism and advice. The correct approach, in my book :)
