Title: Beginner [C+C]
Post by: Naa on January 17, 2014, 06:46:28 am
Hey!

I'm new to pixel art and learning art in general.
I've spend the last few days learning some of the basics.

This is the result of tutorials and some redrawing, pixel by pixel:

This is what I came up with:

In the gray armored creature, why does the light-shadow transition get sharper towards the edges?

I am a beginner, too, and I think that starting with metal objects is definitely a bad idea...
And if you are still learning arts in general, not only the pixel art, I`d advice you to put aside drawing things demanding strict proportions (thing like people, I mean) for a while.

The most effective way to get good critiques is to post a single piece, and work on integrating the feedback on that. This way, you can learn from what more experienced people tell you and show you in their edits. For instance, you could try to get your armored troll-man a little farther along and then make a post dedicated to improving him. I think your results will be best if you get him as far as you can on your own first, though.
