Hey peoples,
been working on this background image themed around some forgotten entrance to hell
(http://i.imgur.com/GkuHtxn.png)
i struggled a bit with the drop shadows in purple, not knowing how long they should be.
Looking for some overall feedback, maybe ideas to add to it (:

you're not taking that fire as a light source into account, shadows would be coming towards the camera

Thanks for the comment, i hope this is what you meant?

yes indeed!
on the topic of those flames, while good they feel flat, like thry were a still .png that the rest of the piece was superimposed over.
it might help to have them wrap at the base over the hills some and cast some light on the ground.

Didn't really understand what you meant with wrapping the flames ( english isnt my main language )
is this any better?

thanks!

Yes, excellent work, you managed to get exactly what I meant.

So i decided to add another lightsource, a double door that light would fall trough, and reflect on the skeleton to give him some more attention
im not sure if i did it correct, but here it is:

Not quite sure what you did here, I'm afraid. Can you clarify? Where is this new light source coming from?

he added highlights on the skull, and the rock. The light source is coming from the gate(?)
