Contest
Our previous contest, the Imagine Oberon art contest, brought some Mega Man fans a bit closer to our MMNH fan interaction, but that’s only true for those people who have a talent for drawing. Now we’ve decided to bring Mega Man spriters into the loop as well.

To that end, we've created this sprite contest, where we're inviting fans of all ages and talent levels to create sprites based on our own maverick reploids.

During this contest you will be shown between 4-10 different maverick reploid drawings taken from the Mega Man New Horizon game. Some of these maverick reploids are shown at the Immaculate Order page while the rest of them will be added there later on. The sprite contest is about creating at least 4 sprites from the selection of maverick reploids drawings. You have to make your sprites as identical to these drawings as possible. Your sprites will be judged after their style and pose, selection of colors, and overall quality.

JPG-dithering and sprite-remakes will not be accepted and disqualified on sight.
Color limitation: maximum 64 colors.
Size: keep it proportional, if you put the MMNH sprite version of Mega Man X next to your sprite then your sprite must be proportional to X.

You can place your draft entries here and have other Pixelation users comment your work!
However, your final entries must be places at www.mmnh.com and our forum by November 30th in order to be part of the contest. Only entries placed there will be part of the contest.

Contest deadline: Friday, November 30th 2007.

Awards
The winner, and his two closest peers, shall be rewarded with something every person can use, Cold Hard Cash, as well as guest appearances by any fan character they might have in our game.

We prefer using Paypal when giving away money, so if you don't have Paypal then it's about time you think about setting up an account. It's free. But if you can't then contact Lysekoid and we'll try another way.

The winning sprite or sprites may be used in the MMNH game.

PS! I must add that it's a true honor to have the chance to post information about my contest here, because I was told that some of the truly best spriters can be found at this forum. By looking around the forum I can only agree!

Hope to see some nice entries :) Nice concepts too, I'm inclined to try the Networkturtle one just for kicks.

Another maverick was added to the set... the picture looks better now doesn't it?

I hope more spriters will find this contest fun and join...

I'm gonna go ahead and attempt to give this a shot, as I haven't competed in in a competition in a while. I've always sucked at imitating other people's styles, so maybe this might be good practice. I hope others here try and compete as well...for fun of course!(and the rules did state we could post here as well!)

Hellcry Lional:

p.s.( I know you're itching to get back into the Megaman fan craze again, Conceit...show yourself, coward!!!, heh...)

*update: apparently, the users at the forum don't believe in black outlines. So maybe a little pillow shading will comfort them !yus!

bob - there are a few readability issues with that.. you have a great style and palette, but lots of it seems to blend together...

Wowa!
Dude, Seismic Ramhorn's 6 feet tall mate.
And I doubt Megaman is 2 feet tall :P
The average male human height is around 6 feet.

Here's my go on Seismic Ramhorn:

Just noticed that the bosses are a little too big in comparison to Mega"boy". Seriously, there's no point in calling him Megaman, as he's been a friggin' child for about 20 sequels now!(unless you count the first game art cover that came out with megaman, in which they totally forked his design and turned him into an old man) Enuff wif da animezz!!!
I still think my stuff is too busy, as now 4 forums in total have reminded me of my habitual problem. I seriously don't know how to solve it, as I want to keep the designs in close with the original artists concept, but I get carried away, and too tired to fix it by the time I realize I"ve done it again. Also having contrast issues again. Oh wellz, 2 more to go...I think.

I can read the first and 3rd of those fine, BOB, and the 2nd isn't mind blowin' or anything.

I think it's just the backgrounds you get carried away with. ;)

Eriance finished the last maverick, namely Hellcry Lional. I've updated the picture as you can see. Don't worry though, Lional's deisgn is identical to the old picture so you don't have to redo any sprites!

hey

@The B.O.B.: I just wanted to let ya know that I find your sprites a little hard to read. Hmm, I think the things further away get mixed with the things closer, and I find it a bit hard to identify their faces. So I would suggest that maybe you take the things futher away down a shade or so, and maybe redesign their faces to use different colors, or make them somehow stand out from the rest.

Anyhows I think that's it :).

edit
I think you should also take out some details. Look at Nintendo's Mario sprites, you don't see anything of the logo on the front of his hat? I remember Helm made an edit on someones Mario sprite, and he removed the logo thingy on the front of the hat, and after I seen this I also noticed there was no logo thingy on the Mario sprite of Super Mario Bros. Hmm, maybe there is more about this on that thread, I might go dig it up :).

another edit
Here is a link to that thread (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=3816.0) :). Please see Helm's first post, as I think the same sorta issue may occur in these sprites of yours.
