Hey guys,
I am developing this new game Clash of Gods and I am stuck and frustrated with Backgrounds.
First is conceptualizing them which I think I am taking too far and mostly unable to think of anything.
Second is to actually make them look like backgrounds.
These are two Backgrounds I have made. I am not sure which one would look better or if any at all. This is supposed to be world of Goddess of Soul - She collects souls and is a wizard.
Help me out Please!

I am struggling with lava - If I add more colours it takes away attention from sprite. Plus what I have made doesn't look like lava but topping on pizza... Idk how to resolve this issue. I think I lack proper knowledge and skills.

can u explain the gameplay a bit?
does the player move their floating platform up and down or something?
