sidescroller scene mockup.
thinking to add some more layers of rocky outcrop.
any thoughts on colours and such?
less detail in background rocks perhaps to avoid drawing the eye there?

Gorgeous work, Decroded :)
I think the detail in background rocks is fine-- the colors are desaturated enough to (very) clearly set a difference between the two planes.
My only nitpick right now is the 'indirect light' color, that appears underneath the rocks on the main plane.
As of now, it's not very clear what or where is the cause of those reflections :-\

thanks mate.
yeah im thinking to be much more selective with the sky ambience back light and perhaps adding some reflective light from the sand.
thinking to add some more rock structures in the mid-ground and the odd skeleton around to place, giant rib cage etc, probably once i extend the scene.

update.
increased the res to be full-hd / 4.
it is in layers for parallax.

once i've cleaned up a bit more i might extend the scene further, add some carcases maybe.
thinking to up the path (its a side scroller) with sections of rock, then explore vertical game space with rock ledges to jump and climb on.

Not sure what those things are but I like them :y:
Looks to me like the back layer is popping out way too much. I think it should be a lot less detailed and maybe another hue.

Does this scene consists of tiles? If not, I'd like to know how to build tileless levels with similar level of detail.

Hey
I liked these rocks. A lot.
But, I think that the light reflecting on the sand reflects on these beautiful rocks too, right?(Correct me if I'm wrong, please ???)
Thought it might be something like this:

If you want to get serious, and do not mind using few colors, could make a reflection of the color of the sky on the rocks ???
Hope this helps! You are doing an amazing job. I loved these gnarly rocks. :y:
