Grendel, a friend of mine, made a doodle in photoshop and reduced it to 16 colours, I reduced it some more because it had useless colours and then got this.

about 1 hour of pixelling later (most of it with a mouse, urgh)
on the right a little colour edit by Helm, tho I personally like the more orange one better.

Amazing aa and dithering. I think compared to the original, your version looks slightly more cheery, while the original has a sly...sinister feel to it, but I think it works both ways. As for the colors; I prefer yours you Helm's, because yours keeps that cartoon-esque look, where Helm's borders realistic.
There's really only one thing that glares out at me, and its the highlight on the cheek; the yellow-orange's undithered edge seems a little too harsh, though you may have it that way to give the cheeks a sense of chubbiness....I'm really unsure how you'd address it, but, to me, it sticks out.
Great progression though, from photoshop'ed doodle to pixel art, and good work not just posting the color reduced version  (though I'm sure you'd never do something like that)

if you want more of the sickly feeling, it's all about the eyes.

I love the background of Helm's edit and the colours are definately more dynamic but yes your one looks nicer on the eyes as the colours blend well, nice take on Grendel's image. I totally prefer the outcome of pixelart

The palette is great, and I really like what you've done to the border. :y:

The smoothness of this piece if awesome :D, the top of the hair looks a LITTLE, grainy, but that's about it.
-
The bottom edge of the line showing his left cheek has a four pixel line going vertically that I think is too long and/or too dark.

I did some tiny edits.
I changed the colors to what IMO would look better. (Since you werent sticking loyaly to the colors the original had, I didnt bother either)
Pulled the bottom of the eye up, changed the eyebrows a bit. and added a bit of volume here and there through highlights and shadows, and fixed some of the AA.
I highly dislike the way you changed the hair. And some of the AA is fucked up, at times making the lines look jaggy or broken.
I prefer Helm's palette as it is more loyal to the original, but yours looks more smooth.
I wish you had used a yellow/orange/brown for the background, but I guess well done.

I think he needs more of a chin.
