Title: Pixel art Pratice- C&C
Post by: Kidfrommars on April 05, 2010, 02:32:03 pm
Hi! I was practicing on some pixel art and I made this:

I was trying to make some kind of muscle bound guy, but the muscles looked like armor. :(
Anyways, how could I improve it?
Inspired by megaman.

Hey Kidfrommars,

The key thing I notice is how the areas on your character are not well defined. The pieces that make up your character are very straight when the body in real life is not straight as a pencil. I think you should take the time to add some roundness to the character. Also, if this picture is inspired by Mega Man then take some time to look at how Capcom really brings Mega Man to life.

You can clearly see that the extremities are clearly defined.

I hope that helps you in your pixel journey.

I made an edit:

Changed his pose, as well as the cannon.

Proportionally his knees should be higher, about halfway down the whole leg. Is he kneeling (http://media.photobucket.com/image/kneeling/Carlosdrill/Kneeling.jpg?o=36)?
He looks really tense; lower his shoulders a little.
If you want him to be muscular, then his chest should be more prominent and his legs more built.
Yep :)

OUCH!
How come his knee's are right above his feet?
I'd suggest looking up pictures of people standing in certain positions so that you can study how the body is formed in order to hold itself up.
As for dithering in such a small area, its not really needed.
