I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with the hands on this thing.
I just want the simple shading.
But some of it is off, such as the arm.
Anyone care to help?

I think this would do well with only a thumb, something like this:

Hope that helps, Loved that style, really cool

Thank you so much, I'll see what I can do. <3

A cigarette in the hand facing us, and the other hand should have a fist.

are you making a new template for terra?

god i hope not.
The feet and anatomy are already oversimplified, so i think you should stick to ball hands.

Old project of mine "Terra Online
(Yes snader I am :P)
Oversimplified?
Here's an example of how the hair would look.

Sorry Ricco, haven't done the hands yet so I'm making some items of your edit until I can make better hands.

If the latest template is a good indication of the detail these will have you should use vectors. Honestly, it'd look 20 times better and much more professional if this was a vector drawing with AA.

I don't like the way the arm just...curves out of the torso without a shoulder.
Expanding on what Crab said, I don't necessarily think you should make this in vector, but rather, that you should take advantage of the benefits of pixeling it, such as nice, crisp detail. Like on your hair there, you can keep it simple, but I think some hilights would do the piece some good. And when you get to the face, it should be as detailed as possible without breaking the style. Like, details unique to pixel art. By which I mean pixel small details. You get meh?

You might want to change the name of the game....

Unless you created that.

Even with some extra details, I still think this would be better without pixels. Will be faster too if you plan on doing a lot of people. Pixels are great, but they have their place and I dont see it here. Not trying to be an ass, but I don't see how you could efficiently apply enough detail at that size and the details like AA DO matter at the size your working with. Like I said before, the lack of AA doesn't look good and actually reduces the quality of your template. If you were working with something like vectors you could play with the width of lines around curves and a bunch of other stuff. And vectors make simpler stuff like this look hot.
EDIT:probably to will

That game is called "Terra World"
They didn't create the name Terra. :/

I can't use vectors for this.
I need crisp transparent layers, I can't do that with vectors due to the auto anti-aliasing.
So the images being layered will look fucked, so the only way to make them look good is to pixel 'em. :/
