Hi all, I used to lurk around the old pixelation forums and decided to finally register thanks to a renewed interest in sprites.
I'll start by posting some old work, and will start putting up new stuff next post.
Fighting game mockup

Smattering of rather simplistic mobile game sprites and backgrounds

Vector art optimized down to sprites. I was on a sched and didn't have time for hardcore pixeling...you do what have to do in production.

Digital paintings baked down to about 20 colors for the portraits, and 3D for the background.

An experiment in rendering out pixel art like images from 3ds max. The final result wasn't really worth the time it took to setup...

I like this and the fighting mockup the best (Estimable! haha).
This is just so well animated in such a small space.
I really crave for a fully-pixelled beat-em-up right now. :(
EDIT:
Forgot to welcome you to the forums.
Though, I haven't been active at all as of late, so I'm not exactly one to welcome you.

Man what's with the mustard yellow color on edited posts here? I feel like a social pariah.
Couple of sets from a DS pitch.

Nice stuff. Though on the girl there it seems like her skin is a bit too dark, and that her boobs also bounce far too much during her 'idle' stance. They actually move more there then they do in the other animations. Or atleast, that seems to be the case.
-
I dunno what's up with that either.
I think it turns that color if you click a link to it, but really, idk.
It's always nice to see professional work. Inspiring!
-
Haha I remember my thinking when I bounced those breasts..."It's a videogame female." The lead artist at the client called me on it though so the bounce was minimized. The skin color was mandated by the character designer though, so I didn't really give much thought to it being too dark. Sorry.
Here's the full asset sheet for the greek mythology themed whack a mole game-

These are all quite nice!
One general critique I have is that you seem to avoid putting any dark shadows on your characters, even when such shadows would be appropriate. The marketing painting you did is the most vivid example of this; the light source is pretty clearly defined but it is not casting shadows where it should. The arms of the Zeus guy should be casting shadows on his lower half, etc. It's also pretty apparent in the fighting game where the old guy's pants are well-lit even though the overhead light should be blocked by the cloak. The main character in your DS mockup would actually be much more readable if the light and shadow were more pronounced, without any outlines to define shape, illustrating volume clearly through light becomes ten times more important.
It's nitpicky, but I'm being nitpicky because these are all very good ;)

Haha, nice.
IT definitely has a Filipino feel, but if you really want authentic Filipino feel, make it messier and busier, haha.
That's a lot of stuff. It's odd because I'd expect the Hammer God to be Thor.

The digital painting is old, So I was curious and checked your latest gallery via Google. Really Inspiring Kabayan ;D
-
These are all great!. For the DS monster sprite, I'm a bit confused - does it only have one back leg?
-
Oh, I didn't realize you were Filipino too.
That's pretty cool. *gotta practice more*
-
Hi there, snowfly!
Love the fighting game mock, and even more so for the scenery.
The choice of colors and how the visual theme tie so tightly together... I have huge problem with such stuff, sigh.
Btw, sharprm , the other hind leg is there. It's just not shown until specific frame. Not so sure if this is the best move though ; )
