Well hello, I've been told this is the place to introduce myself. So, here I go.
My name is xhunterko. I've been looking around here a couple days now. Plus I've looked at it the past month for advice you've given to others. I've never wanted to join because of the language (and slight perversion) on this site. So, after getting some help, but not enough, on another, I figured this would have to be the place to get Good pixel art advice. I'm on several other sites as well, Myspace, The Daily Click, Filefront, and yahoo.
Hope to learn some great stuff here. :)
I bet you can't guess my name. :P
Anyway, hi. I go by few names, guess I'll use Reaver here.1) But you name isn't reaver O.O
edit: Oyea, whats that [nozoom] tag do?

2)images posted on this forum automatically come with a left click to zoom function. [nozoom] stops that
Wow, deadlock, that sounds great! <3 Do start that topic, dude, we'll help the shit out of you.'Pixelation: artists and laxatives'

Im more of a painter/drawer, so compressing all the information into a sprite or a tile will probably be my biggest challenge. Hm hm!
Where on this forum would it be appropriate to ask questions about terrain blending and making well blended tile sets?
hey there,
My name is Johan, also known under JSL in c64-scene. Someone from Italy gave me the link to Pixelation, and adds to it that I could get help with pixeling. Alltough I do pixel since a long time on the c64. For examples, on Commodore 64 pixelworks, or even drawings, visit my dA at www.jslptv.deviantart.com and checkout my Gallery. ;)
Greets,
Johan aka JSL/role/tropyx/creators/swo magazine/sos
highly doubt anybody is going to read this
@Minty ChipThank you!
Welcome!
Well..I'd advice reading the Rules and FAQ first.
There are a lot of resources and references there that will help you with getting started.
Find the "The Pixelart tutorial" on the pixeljoint forums and that will go over the basics.
Read the PSG Art tutorial by AndroidArts/Arne for a refresher if you need one.
Keep in mind that no one will hold your hand and walk you through. Everyone is busy :( but they still take time to help us newbies. Put in the effort and you'll see people coming to help you. And you'll get better if you take their advice and work on it.
Good luck!
(And I know everybody make the mistake, but it's "Tipyx" :p)Oops. Sorry for that.
Now that I have my cigarettes I would love to have my nickname changed to Somar if possible in any way.
Hi, I'm CyanPrime - An indie dev, and now I'm also a amateur artist.
I've been programming and making games for 10 years.
I just started taking drawing extremely seriously about 6 months ago.
I hope we can be friends here.
Hello!
Names pumpkin, ominous pumpkin. I luvs me some pixel arts.
Now, if anyone would be so kind...I cant seem to figure out how to add photos (does it matter the format) so that I can actually upload some of my works here for critique? I see the [img] brackets when I click on the add image but do I need to put a link inbetween them? I was just going to upload a jpg or gif but that was the only insert image button I found??? I'm dumb I know but I am also a pumpkin so you cant expect a lot.
So... um... hey?
I don't have a lot of experience in pixel art, but I figure that's why I should join a place like this! Hopefully I can get some great pointers here. I've admired a lot of the work I've seen in these forums, and after coming here for the tenth time, I figured I should sign up and post(though my job pulls me away from a lot of independent stuff I want to do). I look forward to hearing any and all opinions that can be thrown my way! I'm not looking to be a pro at pixel work- but there's a great amount of patience and trial and error that goes into this art-genre that allures me. You guys have a lot of patience(as well as skill) to do what you do, and I can only hope I can get halfway there! :) <-- that shows you I'm excited to be here. :P<-- okay. That's even more excited.
I sort of grew an aversion to all sorts of new tech coming out, and consequently now seek out classic/vintage/retro stuff as much as possible.Welcome hANshOTtH3RD. You've come to the right place.
Also, I've become more & more interested in recent developments in the healthcare industry the past few years, as I seem to have acquired some bad luck, and various accompanying medical problems.Me too. Had influenza B on Christmas, lasted a few weeks, then as I recovered I was diagnosed with diabetes, then a week later I got a blood clot in my leg! What happened to you, if you don't mind sharing?
I've also taken more interest in business+investing news, from my various attempts in business/efforts to build a carrier for myself. ...I've also become more aware of the international goings on. ...basically I like to watch the news! ...and I also like pixel art! ;DVery nice, are you following any particular organizations?
I have already released a JRPG (made with RMMV) and a Danmaku (made with Unity) on itch.!!! do you have a link so we can see ????
It´s my favorite way to spend my free time, I really love this. Hope to find here new friends!! Thanks!I too am here as a hobby. Nice to meet you Riky! 8)
I am digital marketing Expert.:o Can you help me get exposure?
I decided to stop being afraid of failing at art and try to really learn and push myself to my limits in the hopes of making my future projects look like the games I've always loved and wanted to emulate, so I grew myself some courage and started learning art.Pleasure to meet you Gypsy! I can respect facing your fears. This is a noble purpose. :y:
I have used other community/forum that why I know the rules and regulation of a good forum.Hello MS Dave, which other forums have you been apart of?
ive been pixeling for about 7 years technicly (started when i was ten making a few small rpgs).Hello emmaoisa ^-^ do you have any of your old artwork you want to share?????? Welcome!!
michael vicente, I'm a 3d artist for the video game industry (I work at blizzard). I also like to draw a lot, and I want to improve in pixel art. I'm trying to make an isometric side project (zombie arpg haha so original), so I'm looking forward to feedback and improve.Hey Michael, nice to meet you. Do you have inside scoop on the new Diablo? Are they going to fix the inventory system? :p What is your side project all about?
Another interesting point is that I managed (or something managed) to unblock my creative block that I got in the lately high school period... Before that, I was writing, drawing, creating little movies, and doing pixel art and animation! God only knows what happened (something like social pressure they call it) and I got into the role of perfect student until my engineering degree. But last summer (2019) I unlocked my creativity! And ever since this time I'm drawing everyday, creating wooden sculptures or random objects, 3D printing, painting in every mediums... And now coming back to pixel art and improving my programming skills (as I learned C/C++ in quite good level in school, and a little bit Java and python)Hi Thomas! I know what you're saying about unblocking creativity. I went through a period where I completely did not respect the creative process at all, thinking it was foolish compared to "real work" or so I thought. I took it way too far, in fact. I told somebody very near to me that their art sucked, which I now feel really bad about. They deleted all their art :ouch: and it was an eye-opener for me, first at how much of a jerk I was, and second, how far I strayed from my passions in life: using the power of imagination. I've made some dumb choices and I hope I can become a better person and make up for the damage I've done. Not to mention, I'm so bad and rusty at pixel art it's not even funny! I was always kind of a wannabe anyways. I'm rambling! But anyways, what I'm trying to say is I can relate at how awesome it feels to unlock your creativity! Glad to have you aboard!
I'm looking for any advise to help me reach my goal of being a good game developer. And also free for some work on projects if my skills fit! You can see a bit of my lately creative explosion on Instagram @palo.poli.art (I know I should go on DeviantArt, or even Twitter, but anyway this insta is just the beginning of showing myself with confidence)
Welcome hANshOTtH3RD. You've come to the right place....
Hi there! I'm Gonzalo.
I'm a programmer, but have been learning gamedev for a few years, which led me to pixel art (and animation).
I did some pixel art for games over at HomeTeam GameDev, and then decided to join Pixel Joint and Pixelation to get more specific feedback and hopefully improve my skills :)
