My first try with the good ol' C64 palette.
I'm discovering what makes this palette so great. Leaving out a couple colors changes the entire mood of the resulting palette. In the piece I'm trying to mostly use flat or 45 lines.
Anyway:

C+C away; I'd prefer critiques regarding anatomy. Keep in mind that I'm trying to keep an elongated yet realistic face...not sure what to do about the top of the head yet, so stand by on that.
EDIT (newest):

Well, theres not much to go on here, I love the way you blended the colors together. The outer edge of the left side of the neck looks a little beveled however, as though that part where sticking out more than the inside of the neck.

I to just discovered the greatness of the c64 pallette.
i really like what you have going on in this pic. kind cubismic without going completely overboard.
-
Sorry, Godslayer, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. ???
-
I think he means that the shape of the thing makes it look like some part is closer to us than some other. i dont know wich part tho as i cant see it.

Its pretty minor.
On the left side of his neck, the veritcal line. Two brighterpixels in an even line down the length of the neck are to their right accompanied by a much darker and abrupt shade, wich creates, at least to me (perhaps Im trying too hard to find something to crit, forgive me if I'm being too nitpicky) a bevel effect, like this ---__ where the higher, left lines are is the edge of the neck and the lower lines are the darkness to their right, when it is infact meant to be like this I believe__---.
/babble.
Do more.

Ah, thanks. You were very clear this time. ^-^
You're not being too nitpicky, every little crit helps.
I'll update soon.

Looking nice so far. After you done this try making a c64 picture with the hires restrictions :) 2 colours per 8x8 block, 320x200, good fun. :y:

I'd love to try that. I just figured I'd get used to the palette first.

looking good. but maybe the nose should also be abit more angular?
-
His chin is massive :wah: Move his lips down a tad. His nose is diminutive in a way that sharply contrasts his very masculine jaw, I think making it a tad more expansive/long/interesting would do well for the piece.
Keep it up.

One last update before bed: !yus!

I feel like the vertical dark gray lines in the neck are too harsh, bringing them to attention faster than the space they're supposed to be representing the shadow of.
Er... yeah. They flatten the image and distract a bit methinks.

EDIT: The weeks busy. It's not much, but it's progress.

The way this has been developing, the whole feel of it has changed drastically. I think it looked a lot better when the shading was dark and eerie. Now it just seems really flat and uninteresting. I think you could make this nice and creepy if you go back a bit towards the old kinda face.
Yup... ;)
