The eyes are intentionally squinted and red; I plan on adding in a headband, "cigarette", and a quote later(see pixeljoint maybe :P), but for now, tell me what you think?
I'm disappointed with the colors because I pixel them as one thing, and then when I mess around with Photoshop's proof colors thing, they look all different...and I donno how they look on everybody else's screens. ???
and here's my sporadically-named links to references:

Photoshop tip:
Go to View>Proof Setup>Monitor RGB
Work in this mode, and your colors will look exactly the same when you export the image. :y:
Anyway, looks great so far! I look forward to seeing your progress! ;D
Hmm... maybe the hair should be a little wavier? Also, the mouth is pretty tiny. :P
EDIT: Irrelevant to the size of the mouth, the lips look pursed, and for some reason, it throws off the whole Jesus-look in my brain....

That's not jesus! His nose is to small to be the historic jewish man.
But seriously, looking fantastic my only issue is the nose and maby abit too much forhead. Though the second is a personal preferance thing...

This is very nice. How I would prefer the hair color:

You forgot to list one reference :P

First off, thanks for the photoshop tip. I was already working under the monitor RGB, so I guess I shouldn't worry so much ;).
Going to stay with the vibrant hair for now, as it helps add to the meaning of the piece. And Elk, do you mean funky as good or bad? :P
I'm having troubles getting the AA to look right on the forehead part of the headband. Right now it's a sort of hybrid random-textured something, but I don't think it quite looks right.

Try flattening the cheeks a bit and making the eyes less sad-looking, that's kinda bugging me.

Quick edit

key points -
more depth added to hair
up to you, but I think making the cheeks a little more gaunt looks better
headband - make sure it hugs the hair. didn't think it needed the shading and ditheryness, after all it's a flat piece of fabric that's getting light from the right
eyes look good, just think about being more consistant with the specular highlights. i put one on the cheekbone for example
and overall be aware of your jaggies and smooth out what should be smooth

Adding more hair depth did wonders!
Such a beautiful critique, thanks Break.
Anybody else have anything to add? Because otherwise I feel this is pretty much done--it's doing what I wanted it to accomplish.

I'm not an expert on faces, but I think there are some problems that you might want to fix.
I think the forhead is too tall. Also, the hair seems flat to me. The eyes are too far apart (in the least, his left eye is seems too far from the nose). His lips seem too small.
-
A very rough edit addressing what I feel are some of the problems. I've probably created more problems in the process but I hope it's of some use.
