I started to rework the old graphics of 5734L3R, because for some reasons I can't work with it. It's too much abstract and chaotic. So I need something more volume and realistic to believe in this world.

What do you think, the selected part looks like piece of a single/uniform ship or just as a collection of strange spots?

I like the changes. I found the old look unappealing for those same reasons.
I think the highlighted part looks okay, but it could use a bit more volume:
- Where is the overall light coming from? If it's from above, perhaps the big back-plate could cast more of a shadow on the sides?
- The light from the white circle feels a bit flat. It should probably illuminate other bits on the side, and the illuminated part that has two smaller lights in it looks very flat illuminated the way it is.

Interesting question. It depends on the location and on what side the ship is turned.

And also, we will probably use dynamic lighting. So I don't know where, because it's not just artwork, it will be used in game in different situations.
