Title: Lumberjack: First-time artist

Hi all,

If you can help me improve my lumberjack I would super appreciate it!
I made this referencing a stock image of a real lumberjack I found of Google images. (Source disclaimer)

I'm a programmer by trade so this is my first time making pixel art.
One thing that surprised me is that it took me SOOO much longer than I thought it would.
After trying this I am in awe of people portfolios on here! The talent here is incredible! :D

I plan to animate this character chopping a tree (or maybe just walking for starters ;)) after I hopefully get some critique on the base sprite.

Haha good to know. I've changed the image host to imgur. It was actually a ton easier to setup and use. Thanks for the tip!

You don't want to inbetween your motion equally the whole way through the arc. You want a slow build and quick release of energy. So you would have more frames as the axe reaches above his head, making it slow down. And then you would slam straight into the bottom of the arc the next frame with the axe in the log. You may even want to have the axe overextend its final position, first burying deeper into the log and then the next frame popping back slightly to it's resting position.
