Title: [WIP] Dumpster
Post by: usanike on July 28, 2010, 09:34:30 pm
Hi, everyone. I am very new to pixel art and searching for tips, advice, help. Anything really to improve my skills. I guess I can call this piece a work in progress because I know it doesn't look great but I'm not sure what I can do to make it look better. Eventually when I feel comfortable with the closed dumpster image I will move on to attempting an open dumpster. Anything you can provide to help is greatly appreciated.  :)

The first and most apparent problem I see is lots of pillow shading  (http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/rocky.gif) on the...the...

...Not to be rude or anything, but to tell you the truth I've never seen a dumpster like that. Is this a dumpster, or a log cabin?

First things first, you should pick out a lightsource before you start shading the dumpster. This is a common mistake usually made by the newest members of the pixeling community.

Very quick edit. I might have made it a bit too dark, though.
