Hy! Now I must paint and animated dog.
Now only paint stand.
He is not adult and not quite a puppy (later need paint age for this dogs). He is young man.
What his name? I don't now... any suggestions ))
Motion will be for (maybe some changes):
- eat
- walk
- sit
- lie on back
- lie
- stand
- jump
- play
- run
- bark
- fawn
- growl
- ignore
Why i paint this style? Because i am already have this style for persons (comic style and big head).
They look funny on my opinion. :P
Thanks for you time and help, people!
Forget say: I have only 32x64 pix on each frame...
-
fix back leg and a bit torso, i think this better:
-
I like the dog a lot,
but the face of the guy is not in same perspective as the floor..
I'm not familiar with iso and don't really know if it's easily fixable.. but looks pretty strange to me (mainly the glasses shouldn't be horizontal imo..)
-
About person - yes some strange in perspective, maybe him need revamp (face), but not now, because this persons is not alone and have many faces, paint not iso%( Some later I think on this.
Return to dogs )) The animation sketch - walk:

Looks un-natural but i dont have a clue how to fix it :-[
-
Looks like a nice animation to me - the perspective problem with the person is obvious, though. His face is not drawn isometrically at all! His features just go straight across, instead of back at an angle. The dog looks a little big gray and pillowy to me, I think his palette could use some massaging - get some bolder, darker colors in there to help sync the design up with that black outline!
-
Sweet AND funny - I agree :) I quite like it, I laughed when I first saw it. The colors and shading look good to me.
The animation looks good too, i have just a small suggestion: small dogs like this tend to have quick steps and hop a lot as they walk, a kind of nervous quick walk, maybe you could incorporate that in the animation.
Now you made me feel like animating an animal too :)
-
when the dog is walking it looks as if his torso and up seems to be lifting off of the ground. Maybe you should try making it lower
-
I agree with the comments above - a compliment may be added on the legs though! Very well done.
-
Thank you, mans! Yes, something in move torso and up is have little strange.
But I am have another problem - this sketch for the understanding a mood of motion by myself, and now dog must walk on isometric surface. This sketch not conform this requirement, as you see on image:
Green contour - where the dog been and where he must be.
On top - dog foot moved on surface, but not in right direction
On down - She moved in right direction, but her foot is sliding - is not good.
And now I talk with programmers - animals in our world on stage of development and we have some restriction. Animals will be moved with speed like as people - 8 frames for 2 tiles, therefore now I paint motion dog on 2 tiles (not one) and her move be like as slow trot. Later we added just walk and run.
The move walk now is deferred and I paint is slow trot.
Thanks Adam!
Some recolor need to dog ))

-
Not exactly at a trot ;D, but it's something like I imagine.

On surface:

What you think?
-
hey really fun so far, the new animation looks very nice. The higher contrast colors help a lot too, though it still looks a bit pillowy to me, i'd prefer a little more defined shapes, especially on his back and chest. I'll do an edit later if I have time! great progress
-
How about a smaller step - legs moving less (less up and forward) at each step - and more steps to reach the destination tile? As in, taking your animation, instead of the dog taking 2 steps to travel that distance, it needs to take 4 steps, travelling at the SAME speed (which means each step will be faster while having to "throw" his leg less far for each step).
-
Nice puppy=)
Dog's legs work like sort of car suspension so head is not really banging that much - run motion a little rigid for an animal .=)
Other then that - very cute doggy.=)
-
AdamAtomic: You may something like this:
Turbo: maybe your's motion will be more faster visual but not playful.Yes it's same speed, but 4-steps motion will be more jerky... Anyway thanks I think on this.
Fool: If i right understand you... You mean more move head? I agree, some later I fix it.
-

I mean less head bounce. =)

I am attempt... Yes maybe this better.

Also positions sit and 2 variation of lie.

В СОВЕТСКОЙ РОССИИ, КАРТИННЫЙ ТОЛЧОК ЭЛЕМЕНТОВ ВЫ!!!
WOW! Helm you speak on Russian! I am shocked, thanks for you knowledge in this language. Yes, Fool be deserving of this.
-
I don't speak a word of russian, the internets speak every language there is though... badly. It's a translation tool. Did it come out hilariously broken wrong grammar-like in russian?
-
'In SOVIET RUSSIA, THE FIGURE PUSH OF ELEMENTS YOU!!!"
after translating it back.
dog's looking nice, I'd probably go with the second lieing down frame, but its hard to tell without an example of a background
-
I was going for 'IN SOVIET RUSSIA, PICTURE ELEMENTS PUSH YOU!'
-
В СОВЕТСКОЙ РОССИИ, КАРТИННЫЙ ТОЛЧОК ЭЛЕМЕНТОВ ВЫ!!!
Translation: in soviet russia, picture's push of elements you!!! :) Not what you were going to say probably. Sorry for the offtopic, mangust.
I just think it's fair to speak english at this forum. I'm a big fan of cyrilic letters but ask yourself if it's ok with you when people speak spanish for example at this forun. Or imagine ptoing speaking rammstein... damn, I mean German. Annoying, right?
Maybe that's just me. Sorry for offtopic again.

Yes it did some wrong :) In the beginning I am not understand what you say ;D, truth to tell, but after some meditate I am comprehend you words!
After that I am khow how people understand my very horrible english... so sad. Anyway I am glad for you post russian words, thanks, it's been agreeably! Nice slogan!!!
setz: See on surface

Gas 13: " Sorry for the offtopic, mangust." - it's not horrible. We talk on russian, just from my incomprehension at one dash. Helm talk on russian, just for fun, not for business! And we not talk too long. But I am assent with you, on this forum talk on english is fair, exclusion similar little cases %))

No doubt=), it just when I stock in a tough choice between good manners and understanding of a verbal advice common sense makes me go for the effectiveness - we are here to help and get helped, aren't we?=) . Besides, I simply interpret what I've said earlie just because mangust got it in reverse.=)
-
just a little edit i hope it was usefull to you

sorry pour my terrible english :blind:

Yes, Absolute reverse

sorry pour my terrible english :blind:
Nice edit!!! Funny, yes it's give me some thing for animation in static position. For example: command "Give foreleg" or wag of the tail, maybe just breathe...
Don't worry. My english is bad too ;) You a not alone!

I think the second lie position works best. The first one would work better with a bigger dog, perhaps?
As for the language thing, most forums I've been to if someone posts something in a different language than the forum standard, then they post the translation right underneath. That way, no one is left out.
-
Yes, Sharm and Setz! I like second lie too. And exactly, first one would work better with a bigger dog ))
Sketch for jump:
Maybe some later it's will be a broad jump...
-
is he jumping forward or just up and down?
if its moving forward, then he needs to extend his feet backwards and his paws forward.
if it is just up and down, then its fine.

Yes it's just up and down, later will be forward.
Face and back:

I really like this puppy! He looks so full of life and character. I think that the shading on him is kind of dodgy in some areas. Mostly, the new northeast poses. With the black outlines and the very faint shading on the head, it looks like it's an uncolored line art. Perhaps some more contrast or darker colors on the head would help that.
-
Thanks Doppleganger. I try it, well - it's better :)

Also jumps and run back:

Growl looks like he's sniffing something. Not sure what you need to do to make him look like he's growling. Perhaps change his pose into a crouch, make it more obvious that his ears are turned back, and take away the subpixeling on the nose.
-
looks fine to me, but maybe you can lower the head 1 pix and put the ears a bit back to make it look better.
-
Nice work so far=)
I'd suggest more threat in expression for the growl - it is a little unclear - maybe someting like that.
-
Yes, growl is not some correct )) Just I donn't know what I doing not right. Now I am know this, thanks for your's comments, Sharm, dragonrc and for Fool at the illustration )))
I think this better:

critique'n time!
eat- looks fine to me
negation- not sure what this is, but looks like a head bop.
play- fine
whimper-head needs to be lowered
lie on back-looks fine, prehaps animate him roling from side to side on his back?
fawn-looks like idle. again, though, not really sure what this is.
growl- looks like its on a different angle then the rest of the backwards things. his head is tilted to far twards us.
theres my critique ;D
-
Thank you, eck!
negation - it's just say "No"
whimper - i think you right, i try it.
And with growl - yes it's my trouble ;D.
