Hello,
I am working on a fan game, and for the game, I need to make a custom, silver HEV suit. I made most of the suit okay, but the feet, hands, and face are giving me trouble. If anyone can help me with those, or point me toward a good tutorial, that would be great.
Here's my picture:

And here's the reference image:

Thanks,

Note: The reference image here is created by Valve, for the game Half-Life. The pixeled image is created by me, based on the HEV suit from Half-Life.

Why do you have a lot of unnecessary colors (numerous different shades of gray)? How did you drew this?
-
I drew it in Microsoft XP Paint, seeing as I have no other programs to pixel in. I'll work on reducing the color count, I probably do have too many in there. I started with about 7 colors in the palette in the top right, but I kept feeling as though I needed more.

Did you save it as a .jpeg? Because .jpegs dramatically reduce the quality, and turn this-

into this ugly thing-

Never use .jpegs for pixel art. They're for compressing large photos. Always save it as either .png or .bmp.

Tried uploading it in .PNG, and it turns out Flickr is messing with my pictures. Here's the picture on DeviantArt.

Inline images please, there's plenty of good hosts that don't jpegify linked in the posting guidelines. (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=3466.0)
Nice previous metal rendering thread here. (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=13478.msg128615#msg128615)

I'm on the new beta version of Photobucket and its really great because it supports drag and drop files now.
png and animated gif are no problem.

Okay. Thanks, Facet, I'll use those ones in the list instead.
And Decroded, it isn't that Photobucket is hard to use, it just looked like it converted my .PNG to a .JPG when it was uploading.
EDIT: Actually, that picture of the knights in the metal texturing thread helps a lot. I think my only problem with the feet is the perspective I chose, and I should turn the suit a bit instead of having it directly face the screen.
